Bell Star helmet was mine.

I went from wearing Capt America type 17 dollar helmets from Gold Circle to a Bell Star helmet in 1972 when I started racing at 15 on a 1972 250 AJS Stormer. Bell Stars were $50 bucks I believe which was a ton of money then. Flip up visor and it fit SO well.

Had these funky Webco leathers black with yellow stripes and I raced with a Competition Accessories sweatshirt or jersey along with suspenders (WTH?) along with Full Bore boots and Gold Belt kidney belt. Next year I got the Torsten Hallman goatskin leathers blue with gold stripe for 95 dollars and those things were unreal. Leather was so supple.

JT "Unleathers". They were red with a yellow stripe with the yellow JT logos on the butt and thighs. I had two jerseys that I wore with them: One was a red with yellow trim (my favorite) and the other was a standard yellow Suzuki jersey. When I scored some Scott boots for Christmas, I thought I was the sh*t!

A helmet from howard brothers, think walmart 1973. Still have it with a "iron jaw" screwed on.

The best was a upgrade from chuck taylors to full bore ,still have those .

In 73 I bought my 2nd bike and for Xmas my mom got me a full set of gear. I went from an old full face bell to a cool open face helmet ,leathers shoulder pads everything. I thought I was a factory rider.

One year, for Christmas, my dad bought me a new helmet. Size? Way larger than it needed to be, but it was the only helmet in the shop that had the Iron Jaw attached to it. Solid metallic silver with a Yellow Iron Jaw bolted on.

The Iron Jaw was a product ahead of its time. The only dirt worthy helmets , of the time, were Bell brand, and expensive. This thing gave protection at a low price.

I remember my heart sinking when I went into the shop a week before Christmas and saw that helmet gone. I was young enough to believe Santa Claus was bringing it, and was positive soemone bought it before he could grab it for me.

Its funny to look back. I remember wondering how the shop could just give it to Santa, but young enough to believe in the magic.

Thanks for bringing this topic up. I needed to remember that Christmas. Everyone who was involved in that Christmas is no longer with me, btu I'll always remember how happy I was to get that helmet.

In 1982 I bought a new yellow Bell Moto 3, which was state of the art back then. A few months later the owner of the dealership custom painted the bottom portion blue. Similar to what Marty Smith was wearing at the time.

Oh man was I

pumped! I was a janitor 15years old and bought my own bike, gear, and this VX3V Shoei helmet. I then saved up every penny I had to have Screwy Designs in Wa paint it for $125.00. I felt like a pro wearing this! This is at ORV (Strataline) in Wa, looks like I hit the deck!

Helmet painted by No Limit Helmet Designs. They used to do Rc, Ferry, and Stewart's stuff.
