Bell Star helmet was mine.
I went from wearing Capt America type 17 dollar helmets from Gold Circle to a Bell Star helmet in 1972 when I started racing at 15 on a 1972 250 AJS Stormer. Bell Stars were $50 bucks I believe which was a ton of money then. Flip up visor and it fit SO well.
Had these funky Webco leathers black with yellow stripes and I raced with a Competition Accessories sweatshirt or jersey along with suspenders (WTH?) along with Full Bore boots and Gold Belt kidney belt. Next year I got the Torsten Hallman goatskin leathers blue with gold stripe for 95 dollars and those things were unreal. Leather was so supple.

The Iron Jaw was a product ahead of its time. The only dirt worthy helmets , of the time, were Bell brand, and expensive. This thing gave protection at a low price.
I remember my heart sinking when I went into the shop a week before Christmas and saw that helmet gone. I was young enough to believe Santa Claus was bringing it, and was positive soemone bought it before he could grab it for me.
Its funny to look back. I remember wondering how the shop could just give it to Santa, but young enough to believe in the magic.
Thanks for bringing this topic up. I needed to remember that Christmas. Everyone who was involved in that Christmas is no longer with me, btu I'll always remember how happy I was to get that helmet.
pumped! I was a janitor 15years old and bought my own bike, gear, and this VX3V Shoei helmet. I then saved up every penny I had to have Screwy Designs in Wa paint it for $125.00. I felt like a pro wearing this! This is at ORV (Strataline) in Wa, looks like I hit the deck!
I thought I was a bad ass when I put that thing on.
She's still gorgeous!
