Flying in for a few days to see my sister and go to the supercross. Will be in town from thurs till sunday night, whats worth doing? I'll be staying in Del Mar, don't mind driving around for a bit. Would love to ride, but it seems like more work getting gear out there than its worth.

Head to the Gas Lamp district downtown, and start drinking beer and eating good food.. That's what I would do anyway..

Hit up Pacific Beach...Moon Doggies, Pacific Beach bar and grill, La Haina (or however
You spell it) for a beer at sunset... You won't regret it.

Go on a tour of the USS Midway, is a mothballed aircraft carrier that is docked near the gas lamp district. My wife and I went on it and it was mindblowing, the old vets that give the tours will talk your ear off.

Go to the top of Mt. Soledad where the cross is and get a view of the entire city.
Then go down into La Jolla to The Cave Store.
Once inside, you can walk down the tunnel and get to the bottom of the cliffs. Cost a couple bucks.
If you're claustrophobic....take a deep breath!

If you like being depressed...you can always drive to where Carlsbad Raceway used to be.

All good sugestions.. Head up to Morely field and get in a round of disc golf. Cheap entertainment. Go to Mission Surf in Pacific Beach and see Rich, he can dial you in with a surf lesson w/wetsuits and boards. The guy's there are super cool!

I would second this suggestion. It's such a cool tour, well worth it for sure!

Be careful in Del Mar, that place is a total crap hole.

Check out the moto shops:
-Chapparal
-Langston Motorsports
-Malcolm Smith
-Pro Circuit
-Troy Lee Designs, etc.

The Wave House in San Diego. It's right off the boardwalk.

Pole Position in Corona is a lot of fun as well.

If you're interested in a good steak house or anything for dinner one night, Bully's East in SD is worth looking into.

Del Mar is to Beverley Hills as Oceanside is to Perris...or Murrieta. You can skip LA.

The Midway is way cool. So is the San Diego Zoo. Ocean Beach is it's own world worth checking out...especially Sunset Cliffs.

Pacific Beach is a good time too...Lahaina's is a good spot for a sunset cocktail and people watching. Someone mentioned the La Jolla Cave shop...pretty cool...we used to jump off the cliffs as kids/teens and come back up through the stairs into the shop....the previous owners weren't to stoked with us.

Gaslamp is fun, but get your checkbook out.

Oceanside isn't the nicest city, neither is Perris. Del Mar is Pricey and your sister is much better off to walk around there.
SD Zoo always good and the Wild Animal Park. Isn't there an aero museum in Balboa Park ?
North County Yamaha, Escondido Cycle Center, some in El Cajon can't name names though. El Cajon used to be the epicenter of MX riders in the early years.

Thanks fcr. I took her to the wild animal park last year, it was pretty cool.

I think I'll just take a day and try to check out the shops. Would love to go see some factory shops like honda, but I doubt that will get very far. I'd like to go back to TLD but I know this time I might not leave without getting a helmet painted (something i've wanted since I got their original daytona helmet 13 years ago racing bmx). Is Pro Circuit worth going to? Prices for stuff out there is crazy compared to here!

As much as I'm tempted to look into renting a bike for a day, its a lot of work. Getting riding gear out there is a pain, kind of particular with bike setup and getting used to bikes, and having not ridden in 2 months thanks to the weather and the awesome 4 spring clutch in my '09 finally giving in, I just don't think the risk is worth it for one day. Who wouldn't want to push it a little to far?!?!
