Flying in for a few days to see my sister and go to the supercross. Will be in town from thurs till sunday night, whats worth doing? I'll be staying in Del Mar, don't mind driving around for a bit. Would love to ride, but it seems like more work getting gear out there than its worth.
You spell it) for a beer at sunset... You won't regret it.
The Shop
Then go down into La Jolla to The Cave Store.
Once inside, you can walk down the tunnel and get to the bottom of the cliffs. Cost a couple bucks.
If you're claustrophobic....take a deep breath!
If you like being depressed...you can always drive to where Carlsbad Raceway used to be.
Two words...
GET BITCHES
LMFAO
-Chapparal
-Langston Motorsports
-Malcolm Smith
-Pro Circuit
-Troy Lee Designs, etc.
The Wave House in San Diego. It's right off the boardwalk.
Pole Position in Corona is a lot of fun as well.
If you're interested in a good steak house or anything for dinner one night, Bully's East in SD is worth looking into.
Thanks for the idea's!
The Midway is way cool. So is the San Diego Zoo. Ocean Beach is it's own world worth checking out...especially Sunset Cliffs.
Pacific Beach is a good time too...Lahaina's is a good spot for a sunset cocktail and people watching. Someone mentioned the La Jolla Cave shop...pretty cool...we used to jump off the cliffs as kids/teens and come back up through the stairs into the shop....the previous owners weren't to stoked with us.
Gaslamp is fun, but get your checkbook out.
Pit Row
SD Zoo always good and the Wild Animal Park. Isn't there an aero museum in Balboa Park ?
North County Yamaha, Escondido Cycle Center, some in El Cajon can't name names though. El Cajon used to be the epicenter of MX riders in the early years.
I think I'll just take a day and try to check out the shops. Would love to go see some factory shops like honda, but I doubt that will get very far. I'd like to go back to TLD but I know this time I might not leave without getting a helmet painted (something i've wanted since I got their original daytona helmet 13 years ago racing bmx). Is Pro Circuit worth going to? Prices for stuff out there is crazy compared to here!
As much as I'm tempted to look into renting a bike for a day, its a lot of work. Getting riding gear out there is a pain, kind of particular with bike setup and getting used to bikes, and having not ridden in 2 months thanks to the weather and the awesome 4 spring clutch in my '09 finally giving in, I just don't think the risk is worth it for one day. Who wouldn't want to push it a little to far?!?!
