There is a local gas station that I buy my non-ethonal fuel from for my 12' KXF450. They have another pump there as well which sells the 112 octane Sunoco. I was thinking of running it 1/2 and 1/2 in both bikes and using the Maxima 927 in the 2 stroke. I know I don't need race gas in my 450 , as they run fine on regular 91 octane non ethanol.......but it won't hurt it to run 1/2 and 1/2 correct? I can get the Sunoco for $4.40 gal. Which is only about $.20 more a gallon than the non-ethanol......figured I'd give it a shot.

stock KX450s like to run on a mix of 1-2 gallons race gas and 3 gallons pump. it keeps them running cool. and lessens detonation. if you run 100% race gas it will actually run worse than just 91 octane. and Sunoco is quality gas. I have ran their 110 and 104 oxy (GT260 plus), and both were excellent fuels. the GT260 is probably equivalent of VP U4.4.

Sunoco from the pump is not the same as Sunoco from the can. The pump version is refined gas with additives to raise the octane made in bulk and it sits in the holding tanks for God only knows how long before you finally pump your 5gal. The pails you buy at the store is race gas blended for specific applications just like VP.

The pump stuff will work, but it's cheap for a reason.

I ran sunoco 110 from the pump 60/40 with yamahalube in a RM250 that is notorious for detonation and it ran great. No problems. I would still keep it in a metal gas can though.

What he said. If it's a higher volume gas station chances are better the gas will be fresher.

With that said I've never had an issue out of the pump or from the pale

I was running it 50/50 before my local pump switched to renegade. It always amazed me how clean my engine internals were, I credited that to the sunoco, at least in part. I hear the 2-strokes like lead too.

Well it seems like it's a good idea to run it then....at least compared to just regular pump gas or just non-ethanol pump gas. This station does sell a lot of it and it's how i had heard about it. A lot of the guys who run race cars around here go to the same station.

Hey man did you ever get your stuff back from Gorr? If so, how'd it turn out? Thinking of sending mine off when I get back in town from this 3 week work excursion.
