It has to be for publicity. In the end I hope they take KTM's offer. It worked for Husqvarna.
how did it work? they brought it, shut down the Italian factories, fired all the workers, and took the IP and the brand name to austria an made white KTM's,
if you were a Husqvarna worker, it was a pretty shitty deal, I think the Gas Gas employees may think the same,
This is KTM's look at getting into the trials scene. Wouldn't make sense for them to close up the Gas Gas factory and move it unless Spanish regulation made it too difficult to continue.
So the way I see it, GG is going to fold without KTM, and might survive with them. Not a good position to be in.

Spain is uber socialist. That's why Gas Gas can no longer afford to operate there. It's real simple. The Socialist nature of the people is evident in their apparent distaste for Capitalism. Ossa is next. Someone will buy them for their Direct injection, reverse cylinder two-stroke.

I rescind my statement, sort of. I should do some research before saying it worked out for them. However, Husqvarna is still around.
What will happen to Gas Gas if they don't allow another company to buy them out?
Obviously what Gas Gas has been doing didn't work out. For another company to buy them and continue to work the exact same plan, would be stupid.
Changes have to be made and in most cases that means consolidation.

Actually the Itailians got thier jobs back. KTM sold the factory and they are producing the old Husky 4 strokes as SWM. SWM I have brought this up on several Husqvarna forums yet the old Husky guys still want to paint KTM as the "Evil Empire".

Thanks for the link. I didn't know anything about those bikes.
Poor management choices killed GG. The original founders of the company jumped ship 10 years ago, because they knew the direction things were heading (which they totally didnt agree with).
Ossa was already dying before they were merged with GG. The designers of that bike tried hard to introduce something "new" and "innovative" , but it really didn't pay off.
Semi vs bicycle?
Godzilla vs Bambi?
Great white vs Gold fish?
The hulk vs PeeWee herman?

It's like my wife says, it's not what you said its how you said it...
It worked for Pierer AG.

Isn't this another very old story?

Trials - far and away the best overall bike with a great reputation.
