Ahh man.
Thats exactly what my foot looked like when I rolled my ankle and broke that bone on the outside of my foot. If you look at the pic, the broken bone is that faint black line running about an inch above the pad running the length of the foot. A tendon that runs down the side of the leg and around the ankle hooks onto the end of that bone. When you roll your ankle it stretches that tendon out till it snaps the end of the bone where it attaches.
My foot was more swollen and black and blue but I didnt need a screw. I also couldnt walk for a couple weeks and after that I hobled around for another few weeks with a boot brace thingy on.
Theres no way in hell I could have raced with my broken foot for at least 3 or 4 weeks.
I had the same exact injury and did it the exact same way a year and a 1/2 ago. I was in a boot and on crutches for over two weeks and a year in a half later it still flares up on me. Granted, i'm 43, totally out of shape and take pain like an 8 year old girl. Either way, that's a painful injury and I'm surprised he was even able to hold Davi off Saturday night. When I did it, I screamed super loud, immediately exited the track, I road up to a tree near my pit spot, leaned the bike on the tree without putting my foot down and had my wife ask the guy pitted next to me to help me get off the bike and to my truck.
Not quite the same thing as sucking it up and finishing three laps on a gnarly SX track while going fast enough to hold onto 4th place.
Bit of a shit bone to break at 25 then... I can deal with the soreness I get now I just hope that it doesn't hold me back too much as I get older... Looks like a fusion is on the cards for all of us??
Sorry to derail the topic, if any of you guys have some info or anything on the talus topic please message me
I hope that he can heal up fast. It looked like he had really taken a step up the ladder on Saturday. When he stood the back end up in that corner...................nice.
Read the posts. Sandberm said he rolled his ankle.
Actually...I think he rolled his ankle when he cased the triple.
What we need is a good ole fashioned, well detailed P.R. from our good friends at JGR. I mean...if we have to go by the great comunicator Weston Peick for our info on his injury we might be left wondering for the rest of the week.
Definitely sucks breaking Talas! I limp for a few minutes every morning I get out of bed.
Rolling an ankle is how I broke my Talus in 92. Required surgery and still looks swollen. Didn't help that I shattered my heal two years later. Took about ten years to be able to walk without a limp.
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (Jan. 13, 2015) – While racing in a podium position during the final laps of the Phoenix, Ariz. round of the 2015 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship AutoTrader.com/Toyota/Yamaha Team rider Weston Peick suffered a broken bone in his foot after casing a triple jump. Despite the pain, he still managed a career best fourth place finish, and sits fifth in series points after two of 17 events.
An initial evaluation at the Asterisk Mobile Medical Center determined there was a break, and a subsequent MRI and further analysis led to Peick having a screw inserted to stabilize the broken bone. Peick is determined to try his best to race this Sat., Jan. 17 at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif. Fox Sports One will air the event live starting at 10:00 p.m. (EST).
Good luck with everything Weston.
If that means taking some time off?
So be it.
