It's looking more and more like another mudder is possible this weekend. It's rained everyday this week and another storm is supposed to move in on Saturday with more rain. Could also have issues with lightning. There are also chances for thunderstorms tomorrow and Friday.

This could be the answer to Dungey's prayers, or perhaps another shellacking by Roczen....

I'm interested to see how that track responds to rain. They brought in a bunch of sand, (and we all know what wet sand is like) but the silty stuff that's the majority of the racing surface is an unknown factor. We're only a possible DNF (mechanical or crash) with Roczen away from the doors being blown off the championship race. I'm excited.

I'm betting it's decent all day, rain in the evening. Either way I'll be there with a smile on my face

I don't know dude. Lots of forecasts are calling for a 50 to 60 percent chance of rain during the day and tapering off in the evening. As you know though, the forecast can change in an hour around here...

One would think this is exactly what Dungey is hoping for despite losing to Roczen in the mud last weekend. Under normal conditions, the chances of him making up enough points on Kenny is not good. Wet/muddy conditions increase the odds of him being able to make up points despite what happened in Indiana. And it puts more pressure on Kenny in my opinion. This could still be quite interesting fellas.

Interesting and from my perspective (wanting Ken to win), perhaps a little bit worrying too - as the OP and others alluded for any KR fan.

Of course it's not over until the fat lady sings, and from Ryan's pov now (just as with Ken before the race last week) another mudder is his best bet for shaking things back up and hoping that Ken has an absolute disaster.... which becomes increasingly possible in muddy conditions. Good mud rider or otherwise things can go wrong in that stuff fast - mechanicals, getting stuck etc. Though if they brought in sand that will of course help absorb it and it may never rain that hard to begin with. Anyway we'll see. Can't wait for this weekend!

What if Dungey has another round like last week, or a DNF. Goes both ways.

I think we're clutching at straws here, another mudder would be a fantastic end to the series though I just can't see our luck resting on two straight weeks of rain affected races.

If the weather reports are anything like they are over here then it'll be the complete opposite and it'll probably be a sunny day!

That's true but the overall title result for Ryan if he has a bad race in the mud will be the same if he has a good race in the dry and goes 1-1. Either way he loses the title (that is of course assuming Ken can nab a couple of top 5's, which he should be able to). As of now on paper, RD will most probably lose the title.

What Ryan needs is an absolute shocker for Ken where everything goes completely wrong. He's more likely to get that from a mud race.

God dammit. It pains me to see these sweet looking tracks get demolished by a mud race. Here's to hoping that it's dry and sunny and we can see some actual racing this weekend, not a slip and slide mistake-fest.

Utah like AZ has very isolated storms. It can be POURING on one side of town, while the other looks like mid summer.

Probably since '95-'96. I remember Carmichael's first year shortly after I started following the sport. I was 8 then and raced my first AMA event when I was 10, in '98. Why? I'm I not core enough for you? I fucking HATE mud races..... Sue me. It's not fun to watch or participate it. I was fortunate enough to win a national championship in enduros, and that has ruined mud for me. 100+ miles of Ohio grease make me hate life. I could tolerate mud races in MX, but the woods races I did from 09-11 put a bad taste in my mouth

Salt Lake weather and tooele weather are two different things....Despite them being less than 10 air miles apart. The rain we've had in Salt Lake, would be enough to make a track really nice, not muddy. Enough to constantly mess up your car, but you dont dare turn your lawn sprinklers off.

Has a national motocross race ever been stopped due to lightning?

This may be a first

Where do the spectators go if there is lightning? Is there a plan for that?

I don't care what they do to the track, Utah dirt and rain turns into straight up ice. Nobody should be hoping for a mud race unless they want about 10 guys to finish each class. Its funny, it was 95 degrees and sunny early in the week and now we may get this. Utah weather always seems to take a shit the moment the races come to town. Part of the reason we always had low turnout at the Supercross here.
