In my opinion, that sounded like Jeffs words that someone else put to paper.

It's gonna take awhile to ride this tank slapper out and some things were said that can't be taken back, but thats life. Good luck Jeff.

Yeah - I mentioned I had Matthes' back at the beginning of this and got shit on a few times. A lot of people hate him and blame his "inaccurate reporting" but I can't think of one wrong story. I am sure he's gotten a few things wrong here or there but not a whole lot. And these bigger items are always right, as least as far back as I can remember. Anyone care to point out things he boned? Where's one wheeled white boy when you need him?

Hey guys,

I'm here to inform all of you that I am responsible for the incident that happened this weekend at Washougal national. As many of you know a green laser went across Ryan Villopoto and Malcolm Stewart before the start of the first moto. I was the person who did that and I would like to say to those two riders that I am very sorry for causing any distraction to them before the start of the race. I had no intent to harm either rider or affect their results.

I would also like to extend my sincere apologies to Steve Matthes who had to hear the wrath of my father who was defending me with the thought that I was innocent because I told him a story to make him think I wasn't guilty, and also for saying what I said to him during the confrontation.

To my brother, my father, and Mike Genova, words cannot describe the pain and shame I have to live with right now knowing the problems I caused for all of you and the rest of the team. I know how hard you work Mike800, and how you've made your one goal to stay out of drama and just race and try to show the masses that you are a great rider that loves racing.

When I sit here and think about what I did and what it caused I feel like I ruined EVERYTHING you spent the last 5 years building on, and I am so sorry brother because you don't deserve any of this.

To my dad, thanks for standing up for me and showing me you would take that bullet for me. I shouldn't have told you a story when you looked at me and asked what I did. I should've just told you the truth but I couldn't because I was terrified and scared and what came out instead was little and low and you still believed me because that's what you do when your kids say something. I was so dumb.

Mike Genova, what can I say other than you tried getting me back on track here and wanted me to make a difference and I didn't make any difference except cost you a lot of people's respect they had started having for you. You're like my second father, and just like my dad I lied to you too, and you defended me against it all and I'm here to finally give up my story and come clean and tell you I was standing in the grass with a $12 dollar laser acting like a five-year-old, doing childish pranks and it all came down on your team and my brother. I'm really sorry, Mike. I thought I had changed and I made an effort prior to that mistake to do nothing wrong all week and try to help but I stopped thinking and I'm truly sorry.

My last apology I will end with is to the man who did his job and found me when I was doing something wrong, Davey Coombs. I am so sorry I had to put you in that situation that you had to spend important time looking for who was causing the big problem. I know how disappointed you were when you found out I was the one with the device and you had to do what you did, but I also want you to know I never thought you were rough with me, you were just doing your job.

To everyone else, the Monster Energy Kawasaki team, JGR, the Stewart family; MotoConcept team members Vince Freise, James, Dave Dye, Daniel Castloo, Shauna Genova and Sandy Genova; I'm sorry for the outcome of this, it was never my intentions and I will work hard to learn from all of this and return to a professional human that uses his brain before making actions.

To the motorcycle community, I hope this does not reflect who I am because I'm not the person it looks like I am right now and I will try and prove that in the future.

Jeff Alessi
It takes a big man to say he was wrong. You can learn from this, and come out a better man.

I for one can appreciate an apology, well done.

As many have mentioned, we all have done stupid stuff and not many of us have had those mistakes thrown out there for all to see. I can only imagine the difficulty in swallowing your pride and admitting to so many people that you screwed up, especially after trying to cover it up. We should all let it go, after all this whole thing really has no personal effect on any of us... We're just fans.

Jeff, I wish you the best of luck

We have all made mistakes, not all of us can say we had the guts to admit we were wrong. There were 25,000 people there that day who would have been quietly escorted off of the premises, being part of the teams in the show you were drug across the Internet for all to see. I know how hard this was to come clean. It was the right thing to do and now it is time for people to forgive.

To be that honest with yourself and everybody else took raw courage.

I hope everything returns back to normal for you, your family, and MCR.

Steve says the way it is when it's important or something is on the line. Riders going somewhere he's tight lipped for respect of the teams's PR.

Right on, I'm just pissed that it got to this point... Last night Tony freaked out and made himself look crazy on the pulp show sticking up for his son... I don't want Motoconcepts to leave the sport, I don't want Mike to be without a ride, and even Tony has done a good job with Motoconcepts the past couple of years! But this is going to be an uphill battle for TA to come back from. If Genova closes shop Mike will have a tough time getting a ride stateside which sucks because he has worked his ass off to stay competitive on a bike you can buy from you local dealer! I'm glad Jeff stepped up and I hope he can become a better person from this experience, but at this point the damage has been done and an apology isn't going to fix this one!

How crazy would it be if Mike showed up at Millville with just his mechanic and ended up winning it, without Tony! Now that would really finish off the meltdown! Woohoo That would be so awesome! Crazier things have happened in this sport and its possible! Smile

And I would love to see the Holeshot King do just that this weekend.

Good job, Jeff. Your apology is the most important part in fixing the situation your brother and father are in right now. I hope Mike and Mr. Genova get back to racing and finish out the season.

Bingo

Nice post.

Nay-Sayers can suck it.

I'm going to say this only once: I'm of the opinion that Jeff is falling on the sword for the Team. I'm giving him my respect for that.

I've always liked this guy. I've seen him do some great things and help people in VERY Hard-Times & situations.
Well I guess I can suck it then.

He might be falling on the sword, but there isn't a hell of alot of blade exposed after he tossed his brother, father and their boss onto it first. Not to mention his ex-girlfriend and all the other team members who's livelihoods have been jeopardized.

Like I said, this is a start. It's not exactly the first time he's come here to say he's going to reboot his life and smarten the fuck up.

Nice work Jeff, it takes a real man to admit his mistakes and learn from them and you've come correct it the most harsh circumstances, the public forum. It's brutal, but not the end all, be all. I sincerly hope the best for the future of you, your family and the team.

I wish no ill will toward any man or woman, and as crazy as this incident is, it certainly doesn't derserve for someone to live the rest of their life in shame.

Good to see you owning up to this Jeff. I can promise you that I and 99.9% of everyone on this planet have done something that we have lied about and ending up having to own up to our actions later on once we realized how much it was eating us inside. Really the best things you can do is work off the money you cost the MCR team in fines, apologize to everyone involved in person, and move forward and start thinking a bit more before acting. Good luck in whatever you pursue going forward in life.

If these nincompoops write an autobiography after they're finished, I for one would buy it in a second. I already have the title, "Daddy Dearest" To quote Mr.T, "I pity the foo!"

People could throw fines at you all they want, it wil never be as tough and bitter as the burden you have to carry for this mistake.

Im glad i'm not in your shoes right now...

Good job Jeff. A lot of us have fucked up far worse than you in our younger years. What's done is done, all you can do is learn from this and come out the other end a better person. As you've learned small actions can result in huge consequences, especially for a public figure such as yourself.

I think without getting into detail a lot of us are aware of your troubles to some extent and I know I am far from alone in hoping to see you get back on track and in a good place. You're young and you can still do almost anything you desire with your career and life. Keep your chin up and move forward, you are capable of great things and a lot of people believe in yoy and don't wish you anything but future success.

It's great that you've apologized Jeff, but I'm gonna be straight up with you.

We've been hearing for years that you were going to get your shit together, you even put your life in the lords hands. Yet it keeps getting worse, maybe it's more than you're equipped to handle by yourself. Find someone to tell you story too and I hope it all works out for you.

Jeff, better late than never. Perhaps you should take up archery now. Looks like you had pretty good aim with that thing.

Finally got the opportunity to hear the show tonight and find it kind of funny how DV went off on Genova's actions when at the time Genova hadn't been presented with the facts. A few on here will probably remember when DV himself was caught in a big fat fib on here and totally denied it several times before finally fessing up knowing full well he had no other credible option. To his credit, DV said that the laser incident was just a stupid thing.

Jeff - obviously guilty and now admittedly guilty. At the mercy of DC and the AMA and rightfully so.

Tony - guilty of believing his son's BS story even though I'm sure he was aware of him playing with a laser several times in the recent past and still standing up for him. Went above and beyond what was necessary. At the mercy of DC and the AMA because of the inability to figure out some pretty simple stuff and know when to keep his mouth shut.

Genova - got caught in the middle of a stupid act along with an innocent and not so innocent cover up attempt. Seemed to do his best to diffuse the situation until the evidence and other facts were known. Like he said, they had another moto to get ready for and he wished he would have kept Tony more in check, appeared to try and keep Jeff in check when he got nutsy.

MA800 - probably still doing a face palm.

Mathhes - instant reporting can be a double edged sword and some of the possible ugliness from that has been exposed here.

DC - was probably lucky to not blow a gasket and have a stroke over this BS, will be doing a face palm for quite some time over this. All you guys that complain about how he handles things have no clue what he and his family have gone through to promote the sport.

Well done... That woulda sucked to write but hopefully a lesson learnt... Well done Jeff!

For the record, it's not like half the people here haven't fugged up, it's just most would like to think they'd do the right thing. I've been in some bad situations and I always just cop it sweet, things usually work out when you do. People like earnest behaviour.

Now just to have the team pay the fine and a Formal PR press release from the team and Tony apologising for the way the whole incident was handled, including stating that DC and MXSports is running a drug ring, assaulted his kid, acted unprofessionally and all the other drivel that was spouted around the world.

Then it will actually look like it's been handled as an improvement.

So Jeff feels better but what about the fallout? This is huge. We've all made mistakes but have you all ever caused this kind of collateral damage.

Ok just to clarify:

--Jeff Alessi deliberately shines a green laser into the eyes of his brother's number one rival going back over a decade. It is Ryan Villopoto who gets the laser in the face and not any one of the other 39 riders on the line. Forget Malcom, that was long before the start of the race.

--He does this at precisely the most critical moment of the race--when the board goes sideways before the gate drops.

--He then blatantly lies about this deliberate act to anyone who will listen, even trying to drag other team members in to support his lies, while throwing his "ex" girlfriend under the bus.

--When Steve Matthes accurately reports the truth about Davey Coombs catching him red-handed, he doubles down on his lies allowing his father and team owner to back him up while he threatens violence to Matthes.

--He then spends several days using social media sites to continue to protest his innocence even after video and photographic proof show his guilt beyond any doubt whatsoever.

--A person whose true identity is unknown writes a perfectly worded press release labeled an "apology" which bears no resemblance to past writings of Jeff Alessi and posts it using Jeff Alessi's user name here on Vital MX. A press release that contains the statement, "I had no intent to harm either rider or affect their results." Right.

And now that 72 hours have passed, mostly filled with continued denials and even more bizarre accusations against the powers that be, we've got 4 pages of everyone falling all over themselves trying to sound more magnanimous then the last guy about how "we've all screwed up" and "it's time to forgive and move on" and "good for you Jeff, now you're a man."

Are you kidding me?

I agree. It took thousands of dollars in fines, a folded team, and a ban of his brother and his father for him to come clean and not blame others. IMO (as a bench racer and nothing more) the guy has lied and blamed others for several days. Blaming DC for assault, others for lying, and even his gf for doing the deed. That is even worse than the actual offence of using the laser on riders as the gate was about to drop.

This is a late appology - too late. When all options were dead, and there were no other options, this was his final card. I`m not impressed. But again, I`m not the one he should appologize to. My opinion doesn`t matter in this context, but for what it`s worth, I agree with Pilotdude

I've done some fucked up shit in life and have hurt many people knowing and unknowing. I'm consider myself a good husband/father/son, but that doesn't mean I'm without imperfection. I can easily sit here and judge and point fingers and pile on the shit as much as the next guy, but in all honesty, who the fuck am I?

Did this incident affect me personally or have an impact on my life? Nope. Jeff has to answer to those that it did and he'll have to face that music. This apology is a step in the right direction. Folks are either going to call BS or believe him and hope for the best. I'm honestly the last person that should be judging so to see him step up and own this publicly speaks volumes in my book.

You all believe what you will.
