This might sound stupid, but I had this idea today that the AMA could combine the men and women together to race on the professional level finally. What if they ran a staggered start and let the women go first and have a big lead, then drop another gate and let the men go. This would let all the classes be combined for more exposure for everyone, and I think the national level tracks are long enough that the traffic might not be a problem as long as they all stayed spaced out. I think this could really be exciting and we could finally see the women have a fair chance to beat the men at the professional level straight up.

There are so many things wrong with this idea. Number one, you'd never, ever get the guys and their teams to agree to having lap traffic by the end of the first lap while they are battling for their championship. I won't go beyond this...

Um, can you explain how the girls would beat some of the guys "straight up" if they got a lap head start??

Are you drinking tonight??

We have been through this so many times. The very best women average 7 seconds a lap slower than the men, as you go further back in the pack that gap grows upwards of 20 seconds a lap. What you're talking about is flat out dangerous.

Some bitch I work with was trying to tell me that girls are slower at mx because of the way we "socialize" the sport, and that girls are physically and mentally capable of beating guys. OK, then STFU and do it. Feminists give feminism such a bad rap.

Omg, 7 seconds? That's so wrong. Try 17 if the woman is super(wo)man, and villo is drunk.

I should be more specific and say they were typically 7 seconds off qualifying pace of the men in the 250 class. At many tracks where they raced the mid-day moto to fill a gap in the program they wouldn't do all the jumps the even the back markers would do. It would be flat out dangerous.

I liked the wma and think it should be supported more to get more females in the sport.

As of current, the females are not able to compete with the males at the top levels. I think they were making a lot more money racing wma than they could racing in the pro ranks.

They would all smoke me on any track. No argument there

Giving anyone a head start and then calling it Head to Head racing is just stupid. That's not head to head racing

I was a fan of the girls racing but that's because we love dirt bike races at any speed. We watch every race from the 50's to 450's at am races. We just love dirt bikes and that's why there is classes. It's still a race. This idea would not work but the girls not having a place to race is no good though.
