My son's friend went to NYC to sell his 2009 Suzuki rm250f. Kid said his fathers coming with the $ could he start it up and let him check it out. Done deal F-ing perps!!!! Probably see it on you tube soon in a thug wheelie video. Dont ever trust anyone!!! bike should have stayed in the truck till you see the cash. look up the NYpost video of guy laying on the sidewalk handcuffed and dead after a run in with cops riding a dirtbike on the streets.

Why would you go anywhere to sell a bike? They come to you!

9/5/2012 5:39 PM

Shit like this makes me sick, I have no use for theves.

9/5/2012 5:45 PM

Rule #1 - NEVER let someone take the bike you are selling for a test ride without having the transaction done.
If the buyer wants to hear it and see it go down the street you take it and show him it shifts and runs OK.

9/5/2012 5:56 PM

That's how it works. You deliver the bike to the thief. Lucky he didn't get shot in the process. Gotta love Craigslist. I had a customer of mine who went to look at a vehicle someone was supposedly selling. He took a gun along with his wad of cash. Got to the meeting place and didn't see the car but did notice a few people checking him out. Said it just didn't feel skippy so he bugged out.

Not to your house they don't. I always meet at a shopping center. If they want to start it and test ride the bike they have to give me their truck keys. Obviously, if a guy shows up with no way to haul the bike home just keep on driving.

BTW ..... the start and dash must be the oldest one in the book. Happening a lot around here.

Also, don't go to NYC to sell your dirt bike. There isn't a thriving moto community in the city but there is plenty of theft.

9/5/2012 6:48 PM

BTW, sorry: that really sucks.

Yep!

I learned that when I was 18. I let this dude test ride my RD 400, he got about 3 blocks away and looped it trying to wheelie. Luckily he had the cash with him and did buy it.

Bummer about your sons friend getting ripped off OP. Thieves are scum.

9/5/2012 7:08 PM

sorry bout your sons friend but he deserved it. doing this kind of shit is just askin' for it.

The old scam used to be they would come check it out at your house, then come back a couple days later and steal it.

9/5/2012 8:00 PM

Sucks man!!

Was at a wedding a couple weeks ago and someone stole all the cards out of the gift box..f-ing thieves...glad I didn't throw cash in our card..

I've had a friend burned like that. They showed up in a stolen vehicle.

If they want to test ride, then they hand over all the cash and then they can ride off into the fucking sunset for all that I care.

Other wise you can hear it run and you can watch me ride it up and down the street.

Empty a bag of skittles into the toilet and then flush. It's like watching a five second long nascar race.

Don't be so quick to blame the guy. I know how it is, you want to do your part to sell your bike, and you put a little good faith in someone. This guy just got ripped in the process. Sorry to hear man...

Man that sucks. I hate thieves. After hearing this, I'll never let anyone test ride it without the cash in my hand.

What kind of logic is that? What's next, your wife deserved to be raped because she didn't lock the front door?

man who runs in front of bus gets tired. man who runs behind bus gets exhausted

Anymore, I just take my bikes to the dealer and pay 10% for a consignment sale. No waiting on some Joe to show up for a possible theft of the bike or other property, and the dealer does all the work.

More than worth it, as the exposure a bike gets at the shop is many times greater than Creepslist.

I've felt that way too lately. Private party sales are tough, especially on dirtbikes. I regret how I let my last bike go.

True. I'll keep that in mind.

I also don't like to give my name away because they can even track you down with the auditors website that lists properties that are in your name. Its too bad that we can't just exterminate these type of people. Think how much better things would be.

yea my friend and i messed up. we should have gotten something from the guy but we had faith that he was honest and a good person. u just cant trust anyone bc now my friend is out 3500$. all we did was turn our backs to get parts out of my truck and the scumbag was ripping up the hill. just like that in a blink of an eye.

This is when its good to know buddies that will just buy your shit straight across. Sometimes you have to cut em a deal though when you know how bad you beat on it.

How'd the guy get there? Did he even have a car??? A fool and their money are soon parted.

9/6/2012 9:35 AM

A bit harsh, and your signature really belong here? Some of us live in socialist countries, and we are doing pretty ok.
