Thanks for the vid, the 500 is INSANE and the FMF vocals along with my morning coffee is a hell of a good way to start the day. If we only had a scratch and sniff option. Hmmmm............

Because 250s were better to race.

You know those bikes would eat transmissions, that Rekluse clutch I bet fixes that problem.

You see how far over the bars he had to ride that thing even in the open areas? Those things were wheelie monsters.

We have had very little transmition trouble, broke 1 tooth off of 2nd gear 2 years ago ( touch wood ) my KX 500 motor is near 70bhp and I wouldn't change it for the world, running it in a sidecar gives it a real workout too in 25 min plus 2 laps Motos.
I would choose an open bike over a 250 any day of the week!!!!

I blame Jonny O'Mara, when he beat the 500's on a 125 at the MX de Nations people were like why bother with a 500........

That and the rise of SX where an old 500 wasn't exactly the machine of choice.

Well for sure a 500 is better for carrying 2 guys around with a sidecar. My guess is that a sidecar track is more open than Mx track in most places.

On a tighter mx/sx style track, second to third is a lot of shifting. I mostly rode at Gatorback, Hardrock, Dade City, Bartow, Bithlo and so on.....man the 500 was just to much bike.

Just started mine this morning. A couple gallons of loctite and some jetting changes and I think we will be ready for the weekend! This was inspirational.

That's funny!

I forgot about needing locktite with those things. Balanced crank and Honda bearings were always a must!

I was watching some bolts slowly work themselves out of their home, especially on the silencer mount. Had to have a laugh at that one haha. Balanced crank has to make an absolute world of difference too on both of those animals.

Probably someone who noticed there's nothing more hip these days than a KX500...

If you create a 2 stroke video and its not "RAW!" you're doing it wrong.

I still prefer the footage and editing in the other one...
Two KX 500 vids are better than one, anyway!

Showa SFF TAC forks, larger brakes, revalved shock, basically stock engine with a custom FMF pipe. Don't need to do much to these bad boys to make them amazing.
