I have a feeling they'll cut the laps for the main. If they do I'm not sure how race fans will possibly understand what's happening. Insert sarcasm emoticon.

Argument I've heard for keeping things the same (seriously) is race fans can only follow a set amount of laps otherwise they'll be confused if A1 had 18 laps but Petco had 21.

Only thing I'm confused about is why we don't go with fifteen and twenty minute timed mains.

I like most of your ideas Michael but I would like shorter mains in SX. Long tough outdoor motos are great but in SX the longer mains would mean the field is spread out even more than the are now. Seems there are only 2-3 riders that can maintain a decent pace for 20 laps at 45-50 seconds.

Give me 5 laps mains! I want to see Mike Alessi win the title before he retires Smile

I don't want shorter or longer mains in SX. I just want consistent mains from one venue to another.

If they can cut laps for weather they sure as heck can add or subtract laps to keep it at 15 and 20 minutes.

This isn't rocket science.

This would be the FIM/AMA response to 20 min mains

The track was actually not too bad for the 450s, that could have been a 20 lapper easily.

My DVR timed out and i missed the last 2 laps..................
Dungey's shifter broke off and KR made up all the lost time but crashed on the last turn leaving Reed to make a last turn pass for the win. It was a real nail biter.

Was it milsap standing in middle of the track looking for his necklace the caused dungey to hit a tuff block and break his shifter?

If they timed the racing tbey could make a deal about the buzz phrase "2 minute warning". Makes fans that don't race get a sense of urgency perhaps ?

I think it should be left as is. For endurance racing, timed events make sense. SX is not really an endurance race like outdoors or GNCC's.

I'd like to see them try timed mains for 1 season just to see how it works out.
