Impressive of Dowd. He SMOKED them. Pretty interesting as a bench racing discussion, that he totally beat Bayle who is actually YOUNGER. I know he takes riding less serious than me these days, and talent can take you only so far without training etc, but was interesting to see how important racing, training is when you see a guy Dowd, that newer really quitted, this year managed some top 20 results outdoors, who obviously has faded since his prime, but at the same time totally beat a younger Bayle, that without a doubt was on another level in his prime was very interesting. Dunno what makes him still so fast compared to the others, but fitness, still in the zone must come in play.
Also crazy, that Bolley, almost 10 years younger, and that quitted pretty recently (2002?) had such horrible results, I was sure an amazing multiple champ like him would be "closer" to his prime than Bayle...
From MXA:
Jean versus John. It had to be a thrill for John Dowd (7) to race and pass Jean-Michel Bayle (61). Vet and vintage races are about having fun—and when you combine old riders and old bikes you double the equation. Photo: Adam Duckworth/Moto

I also put up the GoPro of Dowdy on the homepage today. Chk it out HERE
You cant really expect to come here on a Wed, and not have the thread buried by now
Guy Cooper got beat by a road racer on his weekend off.......... it doesnt matter... its a fun event , with a startgate thrown at it , nobody has a single thing to prove .
In fact i think Bayle had retired before Dowd won his first national.
