I've noticed a few DNF's with some of the works bikes after a crash and riders saying their bikes were bent, are these the triple clamps that are making the bars twist?..If so, why don't they change to a 4 post system like RG3 which I think are the best out there?..

this is the exact reason i bought top rg3 clamps. those rubber mounts move when the wind blows against them! hating having to adjust. i have noticed no teams run them. last time i seen them on a factory bike was dungeys factory 250f from suzuki.

I'll bite... They aren't necessarily talking the bar mounts twisting, as violent as the crashes are in supercross, the usual suspects are bent bars and subframes. Another thing I've noticed that happens quite often is when someone "noses" into the whoops or a rhythm section hard enough it not only twists the the front tire between the fork legs, but it also can bend either the bracket for the brake caliper or the rotor itself, causing it to stick and drag. The majority of the major teams run clamps that have solid mounts or some kind of anti-twisting set-up so this is one of the least likely causes.

As for triple clamp preference well... the majority of my bikes have X-trig if that tells you anything.

I know last year the Rockstar Suzuki team used Applied. When they switched to KTM's they had to go with what the factory wanted. Quite a few privateers use Applied Triple Clamps: Peick, Wey, Partridge, Mull, Moss, etc...

Nope! I know for a fact that Wey went into Applied and picked them up personally. Applied has the same thing as the X trig system I believe, AND they are made in the USA.

my bad man , have not seen a pic of weys bike in awhile. good info though. I figured since he was using pc A kit, the clamps would also be from pc.

i had a set of applied clamps on a crf a few years ago , gave nothing but bother , used xtrig ever since, much better quality, the rubber mounted bar clamps is a bonus too

Applied uses rubber mounted bar clamps now.

Sorry yours were bad. I have had nothing but good with mine. (and no, I don't work there!)

Nick was still using Pro Circuit clamps last I checked (that includes all the west rounds and Dallas), Moss ran them only when he used a set of a-kits for about two rounds, the rest of the time he has ran stock clamps, and applied doesn't provide the same bar mount set-up as X-trig.Smile

Hmmmmm, that's odd, cuz he is one of their riders, and he has been in there picking stuff up. Same as Moss. And you know all of this how?

As for the same bar mount set up, I guess they couldn't provide the exact same set up (that would be illegal), but I think it's close, no?

fwiw the new clamps from pc are silver, those look like an older version pc clamp., and tld team was using a silver color x trig. , not sure why wey would use applied, since pc has been helping him for a long time.

Because it's my job to know Wink Moss doesn't run applied in australia and he spent most of the rounds here on stockers (except the two rounds he had a-kits then he had applied on for those rounds). The picture of Nick posted has the older style pc clamps, he seems to go back and forth at some west rounds he had the newer updated silver ones. Applied offered a solid mount but most companies offer that, X-trig offers something unique, they are solid mounted but the bar mounts float a bit, its a unique system (phds system).

I've had most all of the clamps out there at one time or another & have been impressed with some & not so much with others. There is nothing worse & more annoying than an aftermarket clamp twisting during a crash more than your stockers did. That being said my favorites up till last year was RG3 clamp. It's 4 post bar mount design doesn't allow the bars & front end to get all twisted in the event of a hard get off or it's never happened to me at least. I bought the Xtrig KTM adjustable offset triple clamp last year with the PHDS rubber mount bar mount & the X-trig is easily the best clamps out there. They are 12 different bar adjustments and I can adjust my fork offset from 20mm-22mm. They definitely save your wrist and hands with PHDS damping system. You can't get a better setup than the Xtrigs with a par of ODI bars.

This KTM is unadulterated bike porn!! So forking sweet, please post some pics of the entire bike or link if it was posted before. Where did you get Sunoco race gas sticker for cap? It rocks! This is how bikes should be built, nice work!

Thank you very much! I got the Sunoco sticker from my Sunoco fuel rep. He has them for almost every gas cap out there. Here is my bike with the new suspenders :-)

Digger...Can you get just the top clamp with the PHDS system? I like my pro taper top clamp because it is adjustable but I don't really need offset adjustment.

You know what was cool with the Applied Clamps? First, notice the price, and how much lower they are than "premium" brands.I have RG3's, and they are amazing, but the price is scary! Their rubber mount system is good. I dont think theres anything to gain in this area, for normal riding/racing other than geometry changes. I believe strength is fine on any of them.

So back to Applied. Their clamps are cast, then finish machined. It gives that look of a billet clamp, but is a bunch lighter than billet clamps, and a lot less money.
