Last weekend was the opening round of the hugely popular National twinshock Series, held at Polesworth, England.
The second race of the day was red flagged after Matt Murphy had a hard crash and sustained head injuries.
Paramedics and marshalls were immediately on scene and the Air Ambulance attended together with a doctor.
They put Matt under anesthetic for the short flight to hospital, where Matt was admitted to Intensive Care unit and was reported in a stable condition. He was taken to operating theatre but sadly didn't make it through the operation.
I knew Matt well, he was a fun loving 22 year old, always laughing and joking, enjoying his racing together with his dad Gary and younger brother. Together the family built a great circuit at Long Lane Telford.
My sincere condolenses and thoughts are with his family & friends, the first aiders and every one is so shocked by this terrible
Godspeed Matt..............just save me a space next to you in the "paddock in the sky" so we can hear you laughing and see that infectious smile again!
