My wife and I are heading to Florida between xmas and new years. Planning on hitting WW and Hilliard up by Jacksonville. Then we're heading to Ocala for a couple days to visit her sister.
I plan on riding there and have been researching tracks.

Waldo and Wildwood look pretty nice. Don't want to drive more than an hour if possible. Hardrock didn't look to great on the website.
Any thoughts for a 60 year old moderately fast vet rider? lol

Boswick Creek is close and super fun. If you're willing to do some offroad Croom offroad park right around there.

Pass on Hardrock.. place is terrible.

Waldo is super fun, I'd go there before Bostwick personally.

With a Winter AM at Gatorback the first week of Jan, they will probably have Diamondback open the weekend before for an open practice. Its about 45 min from Ocala.

It's been many years since I've been there, but it USED to be pretty good! The main, sand and sx tracks were decent, and that water tower jump was pretty fun.. wonder why it went down hill??

Dade City MX is right in the Ocala area if I'm not mistaken and it's an amazing track.

Thanks for the input.
You guy's even spared me the old guy jokes. lol.

Looks like Waldo would be a good one to hit on the way from Jacksonville to Ocala.

Avoid hard rock and I haven't heard anything lately but last I heard Wildwood had gone down hill due to lack of track maintenance but that was a couple months ago. Orlando MX isn't bad, Waldo is fun. If you're going to make a drive Dade City is nice for a night time practice.

Wildwood is awesome. Central Florida mx is right there and that's good. Orlando mx.

They actually disbanded the Waldo PD a few years ago. You should drive safe anyway though! Haha

Dirtfarm MX is good too and it's only 20 minutes from Hilliard. Waldo is probably my favorite, mainly because they are always open and the track is always primo. The others mentioned are good too.

Hit Dirt Farm if possible, you'll be glad you did. Very vet friendly track like Hilliard. Wildwood is also great when prepped. 35 mph through Lawtey just north oh Waldo. They are constantly busting drivers for speeding. Hardrock, don't bother!

Well apparently I’m the only one, but I love Hardrock! It’s not the latest greatest track by any means, nor is is the best maintained, but my buddies and I always have a blast.

It's still decent for sure... just HARD haha. Im old and broken, that place hurts me haha. Plus I just love sandier places, old habits. Their problem is there is just so many other primo tracks in a fairly small(ish) radius that it makes it hard for me to go to a track that's just ok. Plus he'll be leaving WW, that's hard to beat

edit: I have no idea why when I post mobile I have a different avatar and spelling of username, swear I'm not a multiple username creeper!

Thanks for all the help. Looks like I have a number of options.
The thing about mx in Florida is, there's always plenty of options.

You guy's are lucky to have so many nice places to ride!

One last question.
Will most of these tracks be open during the week between Christmas and New Years? Just trying to plan my week.

Hardrock is fine. Not the greatest prep. Don't ride over your limits, get to know the layout. That's the biggest issue there, I feel. Elevation changes means some blind jumping, so get to know it so you don't jump off the track. Has some single track, a vintage type track and a sand track as well. The most hills in the whole area.

Pax's winter schedule is Tue, Thur, Sat, & Sun. But i feel like they always open for the entire week between Christmas and New Years.

I would say there isn't much around Ocala for every day riding except the new Wildwood track which is supposed to be bad ass. Moving closer to Orlando is the new Central Florida Motorsports park which looks bad ass too. Orlando MX is now run by the Dyess family and is not the old Bithlo which is a good thing. They do practice pretty much every day. Dade City is a fun track that is pretty easy. They do practices every Thursday night starting at 7. Pax is a ton of fun and pretty easy with a little different terrain than what you normally see here in Florida.
Honestly, if you're going to be around Ocala and want some bad ass riding....hit up the Ocala National Forest. You can ride all day long in there and never ride the same trail. These aren't your redneck buddy's trails either. There are some really bitchen sections with some pretty good sweeping sand turns and bowls. Don't be afraid to pin it in the trees.

I'm originally from Indy and grew up racing the old D.15.

Thanks everyone. Can't wait to get down there. Our crappy winter weather (cloudy and wet) has started early this year.

We're looking forward to retiring in a few years so we can get the hell out of here in the winter.
