I think it's much more likely that you get accidentally run over without gesturing anyone. There is an inherent difference since bikes don't have cages and seat belts, and our crashes mean you are on the ground by definition. Standing and gesturing are ways of being seen: the worse case for riders was like the year Alessi was down after the jump and got run over so many times. That was so awful to watch.

I've ran over plenty of dudes....and I've been run over plenty of times. Not that big of a deal. Getting landed on is a totally different conversation. I've done both of those as well.....not one of them ever turned out good.
