Reading that interview, he doesn't sound ready . I'd be surprised to see him race SX this season.

he has said all along that he plans on racing a couple of ama supercrosses 'just for fun'
but it would be a shame for him to do it if he's not ready!

Yeah, he comments at the end he wants to see how it goes and then decide his future. Sounds like he has thoughts of making a go at it sometime down the road , but I just don't see him taking a chance at messing up his GP season for a couple of races. He thought Bercy was scary and thats nothing compared to what he will see on the AMA circuit.

Wasn't it reported a few weeks ago that he would more thank likely race rounds 3 & 4 instead? Said he needed more practice.

On his twitter he tells Donny Emler Jr (from FMF) that he'll see him soon in the US... but I guess that could mean anything.

Don't know. I hope I'm wrong and he does do it . I'd like to see how he does , but at the same time I would hate to see him wad it up and get hurt before the GPs.

that's a damn shame. I hate seeing great outdoor rider's from the European series come here to ruin their career by joining the circus.

If he gets hurt during SX he has almost 3 months to heal before the first World round and nearly 4 months to heal before the 3rd round. Just food for thought.

If he thinks its scary, than forget it! I am not saying he doesn't have the skill, the issue is his competition, they have done thousands of SX laps and fear is no issue, its .0001 seconds that is the issue for the top guys.

I think it may have hurt his confidence a bit at Bercy. What was he like 6th or 7th? He wasn't in the same ball park with those other guys and that track is small and has way less gnarlier rythym sections then a AMA SX track.

The day Cairoli races a SX or National here in the states is the day RC returns to racing.

Well....in AC case, with a moto twist....

"Its better to remain in the GP's and be thought of as one of the best in the world, than to try a SX and remove oneself from the best in the world conversation all together."

AC is one of my favorite riders, but I'd prefer he not try supercross....

He has said on more than 1 occasion that he is coming to the U.S. to ride at the KTM track till before round 3&4 of SX. Then if he feels he is ready to race he will at 3&4, if not he'll be there watching

After reading that interview and seeing how he did in the Euro SX's he raced I think we won't see him out here for SX this year. The last thing the world champ needs is to be racing around mid pack and even worse not making main events. I would of never thought he wasn't fast enough to easily make mains until I watched those Euro SX's. After seeing them I'm not so sure he'd make the mains and that could/would rock the champs confidence. As we all know these guys egos are very fragile and one of the biggest chores for a racer is keeping that winning ego in tact.

This post is the total opposite of what I posted 6 months ago because I really thought he would be a lot better than he is at SX.

Ive seen on his Twitter a few times talking to Alessi and Danielle that he is planning on being here the 26th of December...It would be cool to see him give it a shot here in the US. He has also said that there are a couple dates in the outdoors he wants to come try too

Yeah right. He said that last year about the last 3 Nats if he had the GP title wrapped up. Well, he wrapped it up early and still didnt come.

There is no need for hope. He will NOT be racing a SX or National.

Says who? Watch Bercy night 1 compared to night 3, he made massive improvements just over those nights. He sounds to me like this is something he really wants to do. It wouldn't surprise me 1 bit that he'd be able to pick it up quick.

Antonio stays in California to train with his SX-F 350 until Jan. 30, then travel back to Italy and finish the preparation for his debut season to be held in Ponte a Egola February 27 at the opening of International of Italy .

Not going to happen.. He's been in the states for a while now and if he was doing A1 we would of heard about it IMO.

Agreed, Matthes made mention of him having dinner with AC and DV a few nights ago so i would assume he has been here riding for a while?
But if he rides any rounds at all is anyones guess. I say after he witness's the speed at A1 of 1-10 he will have a different outloook all together!

Oh well that's a shame really would have been good to see him step up to it. He had nothing to gain and all to loose.

The article is saying NO SX guys and he only got to the US after christmas

Do you still plan to race in the U.S.?



I need to ride more, but I am not going there with any expectations. I know it will be almost impossible to win, but if I train well, then I can go there and have fun and that's my main objective.



Sure there might be people wondering why I am not at the front, but those who know the sport also know that Supercross is a very different thing. I don't really care what people say; I just want to improve and have fun.
