he's never been a great starter, and now more than ever starts are key. He also re-entered the series after everyone else has already gotten things rolling.

To me he looked impressive early in his heat race though.

I don't remember him setting the world on fire in his very first year as a pro.
but what does stick in my head,is his ability to improve over time .hence, the road to his 250 championship.

Drops anchor? Perhaps you don't give him (and his team) enough credit for being a capable SX pro?

Listen to the man himself describe what's happening with his racing in this weeks Pulp MX Show http://pulpmxshow.com/show/205

Listen to the show and then do the math regarding Eli's results.

He seemed faster than Roczen last year on the small bike. I think the injury/lack of testing on the honda 450 that people seem to dislike have hurt him a little bit. I think it'll just take a little time for him to get where he needs to be.

that is what I think too, for me he is the next big US superstar once RV/JS7/CR retire, so right now I guess his goals is to stay healthy and get more experience in the big class.

Thought he did pretty well winning his first professional race ever. That heat stroke thing in Texas killed him for a spell.

check out his stats ,first yr in pros .
this is now his first true yr in pros 450.
I am not writing him off. give him 3 years to be dominant in 450 class.

He cant ride a 450 like he can ride a 250.. K Roc can ride a 450 better than a 250.

All the while Tomac was giving him fits in the lites, Roczen knew when they got in the big leagues , that he had him covered.

I think he will improve, but i think he will end up looking better when Reed, Stewart and RV retire,

I know I'm gonna get hated on, but I honestly think the biggest part of it is that bike. It's not working.
