When was the last time there has been a rivalry like Tomac Vs Roczen where they both moved up together and it seems like they are both pretty equal on terms of who can win on any given day.

RV- On a different level then the rest
Stewart- In his prime, better than the rest
RC- ......
MC- ........

I know there was a Reed vs RC Rivalry but they didn't race each other on 125's and build the rivalry quite like Tomac and Roczen.

So who were the last two riders who dominated the lites/125s and then moved up and battled on 250s/450s at the front of the pack?

I loved watching Stewart and Rc race the outdoors...even being an old timer, I can honestly say that outdoor season had some the most fantastic back and fourth racing I had witnessed in years...the speed those two guys were going was just unreal

We really missed out on the RV / Canard rivalry. After Trey took that 250sx west title from him it was looking like they would be the two top dogs, and now that RV is fading off into the sunset trey is coming on strong. Oh what could have been......

I can't think of who the last two were, but the next two could be Webb and AC.

Well Alessi has said he is interested in the MXGP so maybe he and RV can bring back their old rivalry.

the best/worst rivalry was Badshaw vs. Chicken....
Damon lost a championship because he wouldn't let it go....

Alessi would be so far behind he wouldn't know what color bike RV is riding.

Swink, Lamson, and MC all moved up from the 125s and continued their rivalry in the 250s.

I don't know if MC had a "rival" on 250s

I'm really looking forward to next year just because of the brewing Tomac/Roczen rivalry.

Tomacs going to run it in on Kenny more then once and we'll see how Roczen responds.

You guys do realize he's coming off a win over Jimmy Decotis at the Waffle House Pro Shootout at Hog Heaven MX in North Carolina, right? A little respect for the champ, maybe?

East as someone said... and I love Trey, but RV has been a step above every step of the way. You'd be better trying to compare Dungey and Trey or Dungey and RV... Either way RV wins.

RC and Reynard could have been great, except for injuries. RV and Townley could have been great, except for injuries.

In order to have a rivalry, in the truest sense of the word, you need to battle and swap wins on a continuous basis. Constantly looking over your shoulder for the faster guy, ramming people simply because you can, going all Tammy Faye Bakker because you won a heat race in SX, and pulling over because a guy honks the horn on a fast straight, does not qualify as a "rivalry".

Even though it didn't last long, RV and Townley was some bad ass racing.

J-Law vs Dungey in 2008 was some good stuff, too.

True nobody has ever battled like that and moved up at the same time and then continued to battle the same way. It is yet to be seen if even they will do that. Time will tell.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Alessi is brilliantly fast. But not Ryan Villopoto fast. That rivalry ended after the 250 class.

I think Roczen knew exactly what he was doing when he got on yellow. To think that he was that fast and looked that good on a bike that he didn't like is scary. Whens the last time a rookie came into a stacked field and won a title? Im excited to see what Tomac brings to the table in a full season, maybe some DW15 ET3 battles like old times. We're in for a treat this year, I hope..

In my opinion, Tomac will be to Roczen as Dungey was to Villopoto.

I think once Eli gets comfortable on the 450 he'll be stronger than Roczen. I think we saw the best of those two during the 2013 250 MX series... and we know who won that one.

That is not a good comparison at all really. Because Tomac has proven on certain days that there aint anyone going to touch him.

All I know is that with where those two are at right now........we are going to see some true epic battles from those guys for many years to come.....and that's what I'm happy about!

Eli is already starting to show that kind of speed. He may not have it all the time.....but when he does......others will be fighting for 2nd.

I'm tellin' ya......once he gets his groove on ( and stays healthy ).......I don't see many dudes running with him. The kids the real deal.

The Stewart and Reed battles have been a fucking blast to watch over the years. If one of those guys wins a race you can expect to see the other guy up there the next week.
