To train or not to train, that is the question?

Dean Wilson won the outdoor championship without a trainer......are they really necessary?

I believe this all depends on the person. It's all about finding the right program for each individual. Some people may be able to find a match on their own, whether it be by luck, hunches, listening to themselves, or hearing things for other. Some people want expert advice. If I were pro, I would go ahead and hire a trainer just to be sure I wasn't doing anything counter-productive. It's better to 10% under-train than 1% over-train.

You can "train" without a "trainer" ......no? Some guys are self motivated and just need a one time trainer to teach them what to do.

They say recovery is very important. I've been recovering for years, and will soon reach my goal of complete dominance in the area of fitness. Once reached I plan to win races, followed by another extended period of recovery.

Seems like a lot of guys get trainers when they move up to the big bike. The extra stamina they get from working with someone who knows, smooths them out and makes them fast for an entire moto without crashing their brains out.

I think the fact that Dunge goes without speaks to both how smart and motivated he is and how perhaps his genetic makeup helps him also.

Dean Wilson is a geneticly blessed rider with a super smooth style. He is young and with that style he expends less energy on the bike so he doesn't need to train the same way as say Barcia or Villipotto and for now can get away with doing his own program.

Take a look at any sport and its just a small handful of athletes that can pull off being competetive at the top levels without a formal training (and diet) program.

Reality is if you think you're in shape now, a formal training program will raise the bar even further....

Training is not rocket science.

Anyone can figure it out with a little research.

Wilson and his Dad are not fools and have been training together his whole career. Obviously it works.

Yeah I def. this this is a circumstantial thing...some have way more talent/genetic make up then others.

RC trained as hard as he did because thats what he needed to do, to beat his competition. Don't get me wrong...dude is talented as hell but he himself even said there are alot of other riders who have way more talent then him.

RC's style was never really anything to write home about...dude was just blazing fast and in super good shape.
