AMAZING CHANGE!!! I'm so glad the chase format didn't happen.

"...last time a major change was made to the format was the 1985 season when there were two main events. That particular season is regarded as one of, if not the most exciting in the sport’s history."

Okay so why not two main events!?!? Not that we're voting, but I vote for two 10min +1 mains per class

The timed races make sense, so it's a good change. The length and number of races at each event is a more debatable issue. Closer racing means shorter contests, longer will typically get more separation.

Why did this work it's way into the press release, just to tease us?

"With the exception of adding the semi races to the program a few years ago the last time a major change was made to the format was the 1985 season when there were two main events. That particular season is regarded as one of, if not the most exciting in the sport’s history."

Surprised they are doing it for the heats... seems like a good opportunity for a good old AMA fuckup.

I wouldn't say it's too much of a negative for Daytona, as they've been shortening the laptimes at that track more and more to meet the TV time each year. At least with a timed main event, the track doesn't have to be so close to a one minute laptime for TV sakes.

Ahhh yes the almighty LIVE TV. I remember being at a riders meeting (awhile back) and hearing something about "hurrying and tv time" and it felt like nails on a caulk board. I knew then "we're fucked" because of LIVE TV being the #1 concern over the people asses in the seat at stadium. Anyone remember victory laps? Ah the good ol days Dry
Totally agree Nate, I could give a shit about live TV. Show it next day or something. This is also why I only attend 1 SX per year, because nothing at the event is structured around the paying customers. Its all about the TV time, everything at the event, everything, is about TV time.

So now you don't have to actually come in first to win how nice.
I guess that will stop the finish line fist pump until times are looked at to see who actually won.
SX what a joke.

Tomac called and said thank you, his stock just went thru the roof.
Hopefully he's done chasing his fitness and healing. He had some fading issues last year, in regards to cardio, in races shorter than will be in 2017.
