That Norton was a kook. I wonder what ever became of him?

Those were the days- still have a couple old dusty trophies on the shelf from that mayhem, and some great memories.

Hey guys. I'm looking for race results for 1989 and 1990. Specifically Senoir B. Any help, info or leads would be greatly appreciated. Maybe pics and race flyer would be great too!!

What was the deal with that race?

I think that I heard somewhere that the owner/leasee of the property had a certain land use permit that was a couple of years from expiring. They went in to amend the permit, and the permitting agency was not going to permit the new use.

With that, they said "Fine, we are going to do everything we can to cause as much damage to the property until our current permit expires", and that is how we got the Blackwater 100.

Is there ANY truth to that?

Norton was legendary on that 125. You guys should have seen him at the NETRA events back then!

Blackwater was around for 19 years, so that's not the case. Essentially, a preacher from Davis, WV wanted to do something special for his town to help the economy. He got in contact with Dave Coombs, and the two saw On Any Sunday together. After watching the movie they thought that a GP style race through and around town would be a good fit, would help bring people to the area, and that was it!

Tim Coombs won that race in 1988 I think.
I have raced Tim Coombs in the mud at High Point.

Never race Tim Coombs in the mud, especially at High Point.
