A few weeks ago, I did an interview with Timmy Weigand about the stroke he suffered. Tim was born with a small hole in his heart (relatively common), but over the years as the hole closed scar tissue built up and eventually caused the stroke. Doctors determined that open-heart surgery was the best route to getting Tim back to a normal life.
It's been about 3 months since all of this went down, and Tim has been following his doctors orders to the letter. Recently, they cleared him to return to riding and racing. I followed Tim and his "man-friend" Ryan Orr as they spent the day practicing at Glen Helen. If you hadn't known about Tim's issues, it would have been hard to tell he was away from the bike for 3 months. This whole ordeal has lit a fire inside him, and he's charged up for his return to racing.
