Thoughts on this GoPro 3rd Person Mount?

Edited Date/Time 7/16/2013 3:40am
I built this mount myself and have tried it with good results while snowboarding, but this was the first time that I strapped it on behind a dirt bike for some dune riding.

The camera is mounted underneath a wing that flies behind you when you reach around 10 KPH. It set the wing to fly quite low on this day to get a perspective from directly behind the rider and there is a 'stopper' that prevents it hitting the ground when you stop moving.

I know the riding is pretty soft, but this was just a test run. What do you guys think? Comments and feedback would be awesome.

Would be fucking awesome to make it work on a track, but I don't think that would work. Good idea and nice execution.

Wow! Very Cool!

Wondering how it works over jumps or long desert whoop sections?? Does it just follow along or get pulled all over when the bike (and the rider) starts to pitch and yaw?

I want one.

I made a GoPro mount similar to that a few years ago. I call it the spinner cam:

Holy shit, spinner cam about made me throw up. The other wing deal, would like to see it used on a track with the bike leaving the ground.

Great guys, awesome that you like it.

It hasn't been tested jumping behind a bike yet, but works well when in the air behind a snowboard. Hopefully the shots will be even smoother than when riding on the ground and give a pretty different perspective.

The wing always follows directly behind you and doesn't move much when you twist (or pitch / yaw).

Just got to get out there and test some more now, so that I can finish designing this thing as soon as possible.

I think it's an amazing idea, and will work great for freeriding in almost all sports. Don't see it being that viable on a MX track though, what with other riders being so close and all the stopping/turning.

Agreed that things can get way to intense on a track with the other riders - but maybe it could be a good way to demo a lap.

I posted this vid a long time ago that my bud Justin shot of Kurt Caselli making his own little rotary mount, it came out pretty cool. They didnt do anything but mount it on his helmet w/ a flat piece of metal lol I told him they should of had Kurt reach up and spin it Laughing

Surprisingly they just left is free spinning. Check it out:
