All right, start working on your questions for later today, when we'll sticky a thread that Ricky Carmichael will be checking in on, and answering questions for the week.
I remember one time as a kid at a Kawasaki dealer autograph signing my dad telling me I needed to ask him to bless my throttle hand in lieu of an autograph. I was so nervous when I finally got to the front of the line that when he said "Hi" I just froze, took the poster and walked away. It was like the Christmas Story scene when the kid finally gets up to see Santa Claus.
But in all seriousness, who is going to ask him to do a podcast with Matthes about his career?
What was is like making the transition to "Normal" life? With training being such a large part of your life during the week was it awkward not training post retirement?
What did it feel like going to the line knowing you could kick everyones ass on any given night/day? Like seriously, was there ever a doubt that you wouldn't win?
And talk about the pressure? did you ever not be able to sleep thinking of how to get faster? or have huge butterflies before races?
RC can we do an email interview where we (Me & You) get to the point in you and Matthes ? So you can have your say, and put that beef to bed. Or at least get the GOAT's side.
It's early but WTF. First off, thanks for being a great ambassador for American motocross. Also, thank you for being cooler than the other side of the pillow to me and my friends back when we all met you at the US Open during your Honda days. Now, on to the questions.
1) Was it difficult for you to dethrone McGrath knowing that you seemed to look up to him as a racer?
2) Who was your favorite person to race against?
3) Truthfully, why do you think we went from being so dominant at the the MXDN to where we are at now?
4) Lastly, how did this moment feel? Thanks again RC!
Hi Ricky,
Has owning a team proved to be the money pit it is always said to be? Also, how do you feel about tying on points in the outdoor nationals when two riders swap moto wins and second place finishes. I know the 2-1 guy gets first place on paper and a fatter bonus, but we know the most important thing is points, and when the points tie, to me, it makes calling one guy the "winner" sort of empty. I don't know if you have much of an opinion on that since you tended to just go 1-1. Thanks so much for any input Ricky, and also thanks for signing my number plate and a poster at St Louis SX in '05.
RC ---- For training Beginners, Novices, Intermediates: What technique (rider position) can help a rider pick up speed? What bad riding technique do you often witness and retrain that helps riders pick up speed?
Ricky, as a kid you raced a track in western Kentucky called Lowes MX (west Kentucky motocross) I've heard stories how you smoked everyone badly on a kx 80. Ive raced there several times myself as Lowes MX is still going strong.
My question is.. what did you think of that track?
Hey Guy....the questions are stacking up in the official thread....I think RC may be having some trouble logging in...cant bring himself to admit hes going to be interacting with the Vitards....getting coldfeet....cant figure out if he wants to log in as The Goat,RC4 or Baddestmotherefferofalltime
Just kidding. Some awesome work been done there to make that happen. Well done guys

Which one of us is going to go all Mike Wallace on him?
In other words, it's okay to ask questions, but don't be a d-bag.
