Can't tell ya how many times I drove by that old building, when Suzuki was still there. Old building barely visible in background, Circa 1971.

I'll have to add to that, I've been following Motocross so long that SWEDISH guys like Torsten Hallman, Bengt Aberg, and Arne Kring were my hero's. Joel Robert and Roger DeCoster were Johnny come lately's on their Jap crap.

Photo of Marty Tripes and Arne Kring at first LA Supercross (I was there too)

A lot of people in southern California operate under this strange assumption that the rest of us are aware of or possibly even give a crap what goes on there. Kinda like MXA reporting on local races as if the rest of us care.

First bike i road was friends 74 Husky 360 something and only tried to throw me off all time. Scary shit for sure! I'm so old that i quit 98 because my sons told me it was actually their time to race now. Shouldn't i focus on their riding now instead? When your sons are old enough to tell you that it's really time you know. They calling my racebikes back then for vintage? WTF? They where firebreathing beasts and i was soo fast on those i remember? Godnight i shall sleep now it's 8 a clock......

I was at the Graham Speedway InterAm in WA State, Arnie Kring (or one of the factory husky riders) stopped at the banners and looked at the track during practice. When he restarted the motor the bike started backwards - I was shocked - he was notSmile

I also attended tthe first ever LA Supercoss, drove all the way from Seattle. Took our bikes for a 2 week CA adventureSmile

Damn those were the days, no suspension, no motor, no money, no anything - but lots of rider skill!!!!

ps i met Åberg and Kring last year they where racing for little shape up kind of. They beat me for 2 laps with left hand on the back if they wanted. Amazing talanted Swedes back then. Also laid back and funny. They where couple years ahead of me and my friends racing for "real" 80s and on.
