Something interesting happened the other night after landing a small triple at Rio Bravo the other night. It has never happened to me before but knew what it was immediately. Bike came to a quick stop and I just kinda jumped over the bars and landed on my feet. When I looked at the bike, it was exactly what I thought it felt like, so I left the bike on the track, walked to my truck, grabbed a beer, and then had the track personnel grab the tractor adn help me get the bike off the track. Growing up I always had someone to work on my bike, but when I hit 16 and started working at shops I built bikes, and as I got faster learned what to always check before you ride each moto. Spokes are always on that list, and keep in mind all spokes were tight, the wheel was straight, and I havent experienced a mechanical DNF in well over 10 years. My bikes are never "Pretty" but they are always solid b/c im such a nerd about maintenance. Anyways...
Here is the result:
KTM stepped up and are replacing the wheel, which im not surprised b/c they have always had my back as a previous dealer and multi-bike owner. It was just a freak deal, and thought you guys would find this pretty gnarly.

Pretty gnarly !!!
Jason
Glad you were able to step off, though--A pack of zip ties should get them spokes right back in line real quick!
The Shop
hah glad you're ok, never have witnessed anything like that and knock on wood i've never broken a single spoke
Pit Row
What was the obstacle?
They all broke in the same spot, about 10mm above the threads, right where the spokes get thin. I know KTM changed the part number in 2016 but not sure what about it is different from previous years. I have a Dubya rear wheel assembly off my 300 ima put on, but gotta come outta pocket for the front.
I gotta say im pretty impressed with the strength of the rim, the only nipple that pulled through broke and is stuck inside the rim, so the nipple broke before the rim.
KTM is replacing the wheel assembly, front rotor, and brake lever from dropping the bike. It's the only triple the track has and I had hit it first lap, 2nd lap, boom. Everyone that helped my bike off the track was blown away I didn't wad myself up, I just pounded a beer or 2 (or 5) waiting for my heart rate to drop, shit was gnarly.

Scary stuff. Quite possibly the worst thing that can happen while riding. Can you say , "lawn dart"?
Kudos the KTM for replacing everything down to the brake lever. I highly doubt any Japanese OEM would do that.
