I'm currently ridning a 2012 Kawi 450 and thinking of stepping down to 250f.

Watching some 250f tests on youtube , the Suzuki seems to be a popular bike.

Am I crazy for thinking about going to yellow ?

How is the quality of the RMZ250 ?

Simon from Trans World MX was on Pulpmx last Monday. He has ridden all the 2014 250fs and picked the Suzuki as the best one.

Have you ridden a 2-stroke lately? If you put about a 9oz flywheel weight on it will pull like a 4-stroke but with a little more power.

Super fun bike. I have a 13 RMZ250 with a 270 kit on it. I'm a big guy and it gets me across everything.

I have a 13 rmz250 with white number plates rather than yellow but the bike is awesome. It handles like a dream. Stock was oversprung for me but softer springs and some valving and its great.

I know when I stepped down it felt like I was going much slower yet I was then keeping up with guys that were normally faster. Of course, I went back to a 450 cause I "needed" the power... not!

Don't buy a 250f, unless you don't ride better than a beginner, once a month or less, or just have a bunch of money and don't care about down time.

I went from a 06 CRF 450 to a 09 RMZ 250. Best decision I have ever made. Still riding that 09.

This guys knows what he is talking about. A 250f is more fun to ride. . . But riding a 450 is more fun than staying home to wrench

Considered racing the RM-Z250 for 2014. I did a comparison of parts prices........ Cylinder head, cylinder, crank and engingine cases to a CRF250. The Suzuki parts prices are almost double. Beware!

Very true. I thought there was a typo when I got the invoice for top end parts for my RMZ. Very expensive stuff.

If I could afford to modify one quite a bit and buy a new one every single year, I'd switch to a 250F too. However, you could ride a 450 for years without any motor issues (knock on wood). The 250F needs to wound-up a lot more so the motor wears out a lot faster. They are definitely fun. Plenty of power, feels super light compared to a 450, and you feel like a hero revving the shit outta it.

Since I can't even afford to ride to begin with, I'll be sticking with a 450 though.

this is perfect right here. I stepped down to a fully modded 250 and its great on smaller tracks but there are some tracks I miss the 450.anyone who tells you a 250 is the same maint is crazy and must just trail ride though. I wish I could have both but my son racing keeps that from happening Laughing 450s will last forever with minimal maint if well taken care of

I just went from the 07 RMZ250 to the `10 RMZ250 with a 270 kit and love it, at 200lbs+ it rips (And has a lot more top end than the 07) Both bikes handle incredibly. I use to ride a CRF450. I LOVE hte RMZ250!!
