Remember Ryno skins? I think Todd Dehoop even ran theses babies on the Honda of Troy bikes at the USGP in 94. They were everywhere in the mags for a few months and then just disappeared.

As gross as these are, you do hear team managers in podcasts moaning cause the bikes plastics are getting slimmer and slimmer and its hard for them to make any brand really visible on a bike.

Troy Lee's helmet flags made me chuckle too!

I had incorporated them into my Motocross Madness 2 bike skin: (remember this was way back in the late 90's early 2k) Cool

I bet if you put a legit designer on the job to design those you could probably make them look pretty rad. Just imagine if the guys at Honda or KTM designed it. Could be possible.

I reckon they've got more potential... It's just challenging convention that is the hard part...

If the heat thing isn't an issue, then i'd be all for it...

All it would take is one team to do it, make em look AMAZING and they'd take off for teams...

The making them look amazing thing tho is both form and visual... The old school ones above were horribly shapped regardless! A blend between those and the frame might be nice...

With 3D scanning and 3D CAD you could make them a lot better now a days!

I really think they still are the future, all it takes is 1 team to start running them. I don't know how well everyone else can see but the team primary sponsors are barely readable on TV, not to mention in person and all the secondary sponsors that are on the bikes.

if factories started selling them and told us they were the future, we would start buying them and using them like it was 'truth'...worked with 4 strokes...

Who would be shocked to see them appear again, especially with the rapidly increasing demand for outside sponsorship?

Oh man, I remember seeing a few of these when I first started riding about 95, soooo glad they were gone as fast as they came. Just as offensive to my eyes now as they were then.

I always thought they were kind of cool, just looked a little heavy or something. Couldn't quite put my finger on it.

We had a guy at the flattrack races that had a set on his KX 250. I went over and was checking out the bike. Turns out be was using them to conseal his 350 stroker motor.

That's pretty funny, can you make a 350 out of a 250?
