I already put these pictures on Facebook and they almost instantly went viral all over the world:

What happens if you want the fastest 125cc with the best handling chassis ?

Well - this is what a friend of mine had in mind when he started his project to build this latest AF. He already has 3 (!!) 125cc AFs from Service Honda and one CR 250 AF from italian specialist Maurizio Piotto which he used himself. But this one should be the ultimate weapon for his daughter to defend her swiss female MX title in 2016. She got swiss champion 2014&2015 and is one of only a few still using a twostroke in the swiss championships. So far they used highly modified HPP engines with 144cc but the new '16 KTM powerplant is just faster. Plain and simple. Although he too is a die-hard Honda rider it was decided to do the unthinkable: A austrian powerplant in a japanese chassis !

Anyway - we found a young italian engineer capable of doing the transplant as this was not just as "easy" as usual. This engine is much wider in the back so the swingarm needed to be modified as well as the complete lower section of the main frame.

Here's a few pics that show you the build of this ultimate small-bore:

It all started by getting a brandnew 125cc engine from KTM. Difficult to get but he got it. On the scale it showed to be almost 2 kilos lighter than a HPP engine:

Cutting a nice 2015 CRF 450 chassis in half. This 450 had only done 16 hours....

Fitting of the KTM engine. The swingarm needed to be modified to accept the much wider cases. New bearings were needed as well:

New lower frame for the much slimmer engine. Still not welded but in place:

Welds on the new lower frame:

The finished bike in "stock" looking trim:

And this is how it will be used - race ready for 2016:

Proud owner of that beauty...she's a two-time swiss MX champion. Let me tell you this - she's really fast!

I've never owned a big bike ktm before but do the engines lay that far "forward" in a ktm chasis? Just curious. I take it that dad has plenty of money? LOL Chick is pretty easy on the eyes. lol

If it is anything close to your VRP build, then it's an awesome bike! Good for her! Not taking the easy way out on a 4 stroke

Some more detailed pics:

Front-end with conventional Showa spring forks (completely revalved , TPS system, etc. by Poletti Suspension), Kite triple clamps for Supermotard (these have the legs actually wider apart than those for MX for enhanced stability), PHDS suspended handlebar mounts, KTM SXS steering stabilizer

Tomasin R&D carbon silencer (over 500g lighter than the stock KTM silencer)

Lightweight Marchesini wheelset with oversize Braking disc rotor

Attention to detail with sweet silicon waterhoses (off different bikes) and repositioned water outlets on the radiators

Lightweight Marchesini rear wheel

Clean welds on new lower frame rails/ motor mounts

Clean welds on the repositioned and modified Y-piece , Tomasin R&D exhaust

I never knew Marchesini made wheels for mx. I've only ever drooled over them on streetbikes. Talk about big $!

Sweet bike!

Wow...Well done fab work. Some of the major AF builders look like junk in comparison.

Why not a titanium spring on this bike if your trying to make it as light as possible?

It's not my bike. On my own AF with Mugen engine i was saving weight to the max to get it even under the lower weight limit of 88 kilos / 194lbs. This bike actually weighs a little more than a stock KTM, mostly due to the regular spring forks and the addition of the steering stabilizer.

Sub 88 kilos here:

Just a question...... how can you call this a Honda when there is a KTM motor in it? Shouldn't it be called a KTM?

i have seen a poletti fork once and it was impressive. but i would not want to send them to italy everytime for maintenance... how do you handle this issue?

Well - we are in Switzerland which is just up north of Italy. We either go visit his shop when we are in Italy for some riding (which many swiss riders do on a regular basis anyway) or we send the suspensions over there. No big deal.
