No disrespect to the announcing teams but it really bothers me, and seems like the go to phrase rather than describing what happened.
In NASCAR when the rear end steps out and the car spins out and crashes, they simply say the car got loose and spun, as opposed to "Driver X makes a mistake and spins"
When a rider cases a jump it's called a mistake, how about "(rider name here) wasn't able to get the enough drive out of the corner and came up short"
I'm not sure if they used "mistake" in describing Eli's crash but it didn't seem like a mistake to me.

"I'm sorry!" he said, "I've made a mistake"
"It's nice to have met you, but now I must fly"
Then he spread out his wings and was off through the sky!

I simpley made an error in judgement that lead me to click on this topic and then post in it.
Personally I have no problem with it being called a mistake, rarely are mistakes mentioned to lesser someone's skill, but rather to highlight the unpredictability of a situation and the persons mistake in not being cautious enough of the risk(s). I don't think it slanders Tomac to say that it was a mistake, it's what it was and it takes a machine not to make them.
with my job but wow. This is beyond stupid.
Pit Row
Yup just some old dumb Nascrap guy.
Missing the Joker lane or forgetting to file a TUE seem like more of a mistake than crashing after hitting a square edged braking bump at Mach 2 while leading the race.
Perhaps the suspension guy made a mistake?

You guys are cracking me up.
