Gotta love the three unprotected wooden stakes sticking up above the safety barrier. LOL That at the Mexican GP?

I like those, but I hate the fact that they become an impediment to good cornering form.

They've done similar things with tractor tires at amateur events all over, and I always hated turning around those. The inside line always seems to form too close to the barrier and you can't lean the bike over.

That's not the tires/barriers fault. Sometimes people take shitty lines and don't keep that in mind when creating them.

I think they will keep people from cutting the track on the inside of corners like we saw a few times last year.

They are pretty freaking big though, DC said they were made out of soft foam. Wonder what happens when you run one over?

True, but a hay bale has never caused that problem for me.

I remember trying to squeeze inside of a guy and hitting my front brake lever on a hay bale and going over the bars.

How solid are the yellow markers,Will they move if slammed into?

At a track nearby the stakes are metal. The wooden ones were always broken. Smart move by the owner.

Makes about as much sense as a tractor tire. I know 2 guys who have broken legs because of those. They don't move, and the lugs provide very good traction.

Those yellow blocks look like they'll be ending up in the track to me.

What's wrong with good 'ole hay bales? It is a cost issue?
5/17/2012 7:32pm
Hay bales are cheap. Pain in the azz. They move, get hit, come apart. Relatively inexpensive though. Truck tires-definitely-No. I purchased this place and they used to have 900 riders an event and the truck tires were everywhere. I tried it one event in one section. A kid that was here today broke his tib/fib catching his foot on a slow inside and my son jumped a single and hit one and broke his wrist. That was two years, ago. Bad mistake. I like dirt in the corners. Build a wall with it .

I figured the photogs would love them....Nice bright color to break up all that dull brown dirt. Plus they can hide behind them to get those candid shots of guys coming out of corners.

To me, they don't look very 'professional'. Could just be me though...

So what would be the perfect solution for side markers. I agree those are hideous, but i did like the small plastic ones they used...

I liked the smaller ones they were using before. These just look like something else to block spectators vision and impede photographers. fugly
