We looked at five riders who have gone under the radar in the off-season but who could well get amongst it in MXGP during the season if they hit top form!

It's a shame that Frossard doesn't have a factory ride!

Yeah I think RV pulled the strings on that one, very smart move by Ryan though to have Tyla on board and helping him out.

Does anybody expect Tyla to do anything this year? I really see him as a tenth place guy these days...

He can get a top 5 overall on a good day. In the end standings, I don't know. I think he'll have to do his very best to be in the top 10 at the end of the season.

Tyla must be happy if he gets top 10 now and then, don't see him get top top 5.

Frossard can be very fast but crashes to much. On a good day he must be able to run top 3. Bobryshev mostly the same. Good speed now and then, but always on the edge, which results in too much crashes.

Simpson is a very hard worker worker who misses the speed to run really upfront. With a good start he'll be around 6-8th place I guess, same goes for Ferris. Not fast enough to be on the podium, I see him around 10th place with maybe a 5th or 6th place on a very good day.

If the 350 fits Tommy, he could be a regular top 5 rider, but the competition is very big. Won't be easy for him.

Yeah I agree, I see Tyla as a top ten guy, unless he has found some serious speed over the winter.

no mention of tommy......
I don't think people are counting Tommy out as much as those mentioned. I think a lot of people are expecting Tommy to be up there this year.

Bobby reminds me of Tomac a lil bit. I would like to see him healthy for the entire year he rides the bike hard. The fact that Tommy has a factory ride and Frossard doesn't is ridiculous! Ill take Frossard to beat Tommy 9 times out of 10. If the stars align both of those guys could maybe maybe win a moto.

Yeah, if you look at the entry list you've got Cairoli, Villopoto, Desalle, Paulin, Van Horebeek, Strijbos, Nagl, De Dycker and Searle. That's 9 guys who will be in the top 10 when nobody gets injured. For the 10th place you still got Bobryshev, Simpson, Frossard, Rattray, Waters, Ferris and Philippaerts. Top 20 of MXGP are all great riders. Man, can hardly wait until that first Free Practice kicks off this Friday.

I'm tipping tommy for a race win this season not overall but regular podiums and a race win

Wait a second, the GP series isn't just a head-to-head 1v1 shootout between AC and RV?

It is a 1onnone shootout for Ryan, nobody can challenge him.

It's hard not to see that the MX1 class is a little deeper than the AMA open class. The top 10 have comparable speed but after that the MX1 has greater depth. I would say the opposite about MX2 and the lites class.

I would say that's a fairly accurate assessment. I think that if the GP's were run a little differently though the MX2 could be just as strong as the 250 nationals. Some seriously quick 250 riders in Europe who can't get in because of the rules

Too true. I like Tyla, think he's a good guy, and definitely hope he does bring it. The more guys up there the merrier I say!

same here, always liked watching him ride. he has a really mellow riding style but when it get's rough he bulldogs the bike around. i would imagine having RV as a teammate is going to help him as well
