Nobody talking about the way Stewie's bike was trying to swap ends in the 'hoops? I figured there would be all sorts of speculation from the resident rocket scientists about how Yamaha moved the CG too far back, or how the exhaust gases swirling around that tornado pipe are disrupting yaw stability.

Where's TFS when you need him.....

def the "tornado" pipe creating a circular vortex around the back wheel and not enough unsprung weight to combat it!

Didn't James say they went the wrong direction ("they" meaning him and his mechanics, not Yamaha) and set things too stiff?

I seem to remember hearing him say that in one of the podium interviews.

Looked to me like there was a rut/groove through the whoops his bike was swapping in and with him jumping in as far as possible and then just pinning it through the rest would lead to the swaps he was experiencing. It looked sketchy to all of us, but he probably didn't even notice it. A fast set of whoops like that with a rut through them is hard to go through without getting a little huck-a-buck from time to time. At least when you are going through them as fast as he was.

His bike wasn't swapping in the other set, was it?? Can't remember, but I don't recall seeing it.

It was pretty easy to see that his setup was not as good as Ryan's. I think he will get it figured out but seems like when Ryan saw James was having trouble he wasn't afraid to go in for the Kill.

I'll have to watch it again, but, I think he had a slightly different line than RD. James line seemed to have a little bit of an edge there in the middle that was kicking him to his right when he hit it.

Look at James pass RV thru the whoops. Looked like RV was riding a Harley Hardtail compared to James plush ride. And K-dub swapped twice as bad as James thru there. JS bike is just fine.

we will have to wait for a youtube video! I can´t imagine bubba´s bike being that far off in his settings, he was the fastest man in his heat and won the race so..

It's obvious that James' flux capacitor did not reach potential.

From RacerX Monday Morning Convo...

James Stewart: He was riding really good! I think he had a few better lines than me, and I had a few, but we changed some things from the heat race, before the main event, and I think we kind of went the wrong way a little bit. But honestly, he was just riding really good. The first few laps, I was trying to settle in and see where everything was, checking out the bike

Maybe the rear shock got overheated due that freakin heating coil of an exhaust pipe being located, what, 1/2" away.... would explain the bike looking good during the first part of the race and getting squirrelly towards the end... but, wtf do I know?

Had to be a rut or kicker. Saw several bike swap out in the same section.

tonight, 1 hour before The Moto Show on PulpMX.com you can watch both mains on the streaming server we use. And JS bike definiately looked very nervous, not only in the whoops. The camera they had right after they crossed the start straight and took the right hander to go back down the start straight, every lap they showed RD and JS, RD was motoring and JS's bike looked like it was "hoppy".

Riding supercross before.. it's appeared to me because of the fast exit speeds of the whoops section, the last couple of whoops where getting squared off causing them to get squirrley almost like when a road gets washboard on it from accelaration.. Not sure their much more his mechanic could do.. as an setup and adjustment would have faultered somewhere else in the track.. He looked pretty calm on the podium, it's classic james to poor on the steam at the end. He did that quite a bit with Reed last year.
