Manual has been used for quite a while,well actually it's not a manual its just a wheelie,but one can argue what a real manual is on a MX bike. Your using a throttle on a MX bike as to where a BMX you don't use pedals when you manual. Your not gonna be able to pull the front end up on a MX bike with your arms and weight unless you use throttle. If that explains it.



So basically the MX guys are just riding a wheelie into a rhythm section to keep the front end up. BMX manual is also used to basically scrub jumps. You can't really call it a scrub I guess because your not turning down. But your using it your weight and balance to stay out of the air.





If anything was pioneered from a BMX to a MX bike,MC would have already done it. I'm sure alot of the old racers on the their Sting-Rays prolly implemented alot of their BMX style into MX also.
