Enough to buy a pizza and take a nap. Doesn't really matter...

I'm sure Mitch does a bit better than Roger. Hard to say, but he does own PC so I'd say he has a pretty good alternate source of income if it can be considered that.

Are the managers of teams such as Geico Honda or Star Yamaha making more than than Decoster or the manager of Monster Kawasaki?

Obviously not enough to retire on at age 70 when Greg Albertyn is investing your money.

Don't think Mitch is exactly just a "team manager".

I'd imagine team managers have a relatively low base compensation but a really complicated bonus structure dependent on where the team's aggregate points and individual riders' points and wins are. If you were to ask any team manager today how much he expects he will have earned by the end of the MX season, i don't think he'd be able to give you any accurate answer.

Mitch Payton gets $11.25 an hour for being team manager, his boss is a cheap SOB.

I'd say for the pay Roger is the winner, whatever it is. He just has to go to work and then go home. Yes, he does have an abnormally long work week, but someone else is still covering the checks.

The saying goes, you need to start with 2mil in order to make 1mil in the m-cycle business. Mitch owns a dirtbike hop up shop and a race team, his hours and pay don't even come close to the stress that guy has had to endure over the years.

RandyS is probably pretty close on Mitch's pay, on paper.

You've alluded to this situation with Albertyn before, and I'd love to hear the story.

I don't think money issues are keeping Roger from calling it quits but I could be wrong.

For a true leader of a multi million dollar race program I would guess they make anywhere from 200-400k base pay. A couple teams like Kawi, Honda, KTM have rider contracts in the millions per year. I hardly doubt they decide to save money on a cheap team manager. The riders success and managers success are linked together in many ways. I would not at all be surprised if a guy like Decoster clears 400-500k during the year.

All the being away from home is part of why I would say your guess is pretty good.

All the being from Texas is why I say your pretty close except I could imagine his take home at 50k to 70k less. But with exceptional stock options. With a clause that he has to own "X" amount of shares at all times. Just Sayin'.

I know one team manager who makes 115k and I know another who did it free for a year to prove he can do it. I don't know how much he makes now, but he still got the job and he's getting paid.

A buddy of mine was the manager of a satillite team that was around in the mid 2000s and he made $150,000 a year.
