Huh. From MXGP.com this morning...

I wouldn't say that Team USA is going in as favorites, as in the past...but Underdogs?

If it was between just them and France then they probably are the underdogs

There's no doubt that France has a very strong lineup...but there's a reason they run all the races.

Maybe it only counts if you are on the top step. And then how could you not agree, they would be considered to be the under-dogs!

This may be the best message for this team to get! It will probably light a fire that will allow them to not be nervous(pressure seems to be the biggest challenge for this once a year MX Superbowl) and kick some a$$.

Underdogs to win. Just like everyone not racing for France. They want a story and putting "Team Slovenia:The Underdogs" isn't going to generate clicks.

If you are not the favorite, are you not an underdog? Do you think they should invent a new term so as not to damage such tender patriotic pride?

I tend to think everyone who lines up has a chance...at least until the gate drops, they run the race, and the checkers wave.

Absolutely. Many people including myself thought USA would win comfortably last year, you never know what can happen. I don't think France will have this easy at all, but they are the favourites on paper

Strange that I dont remember complaints from you on this subject, in the past, when it was Team USA The Favorites.

Team USA this year is an underdog in the same sense that JS7 is an underdog coming back against Dungey.

Cool story, bro. But it's just a story.

Ready to run 'em and see what happens. Smile

I don't ever remember saying that we were the favorites going into an event, or calling others underdogs.

Heck, maybe being called underdogs going into this one is a good thing. Smile

You might want to look up the meaning of "underdog"
I'm not sure team USA falls firmly in that category.

I like the underdog status, it's just another subtle way of saying you've got what it takes to win... Not that you guys didn't know that already. All eyes are locked to the US team no matter what the record books say.

Im not native english so I don't understand. Is underdog pejorative? For example I'd call Seely or Anderson underdogs and they can win in any given day too? Am I using the term wrong?

I consider the Americans the underdogs. We have the "wild child" Barcia, Jeremy Martin who crashed himself out of last year, and Webb who is, well, you know... Dungey, RV, or JS7 aren't attending. So yes GuyB, why wouldn't we consider ourselves the underdogs this year? We've lost how many years in a row? 3? 4?

I have to love a non native english speaker say pejorative. You do know the 80% of this board will have to look that up. And no you said it right. Its not pejorative , unless somebody already has their panties in a twist.

I agree.

The other thing is who really cares what that says? Let's just have our results do the talking for us.

I would not want to be racing against Barcia at MXdN. My crystal ball shows a legendary performance by Barcia is in the making. He has NOT been pleased in post des Nations press conferences the last two years.

You're an imposter. Not an American.
