Did a little digging: Between 1907 and 2009 (at the end of 2009 TT races period) there have been 240 rider deaths during official practices or races on the Snaefell Mountain Course.

The worst year for fatalities was 1970 during which six riders lost their lives. Three riders died during practice and three during the races. It was found that three deaths were attributable to rider error and three as the consequence of mechanical failure.

It wouldn't be Isle of Man if someone didn't die. Thankfully there has only been one death so far. Yoshinari Matsushita crashed during practice.

Right, I meant to say this year. Well, nobody died last year so that is good. Six did die between Isle of Man TT and the Manx TT in 2011 though.

I used to go to the TT quite often as can be there in less than an hour, a lot of the problems used to be "mad sunday" when they allow us to race, ahem ride the course as public, what you had were loads of idiots getting tanked up in pubs and hitting the course thinking pissed they were Carl Fogarty. NOT good.

There was a lucky sidecar racer on Sunday night this time round - he was making a move on another sidecar across the mountain and whacked the wall - the passenger must have shit himself royally as it blew the tyre out and lifted the car off the road - ended their race but kept their lives - lucky. Friend of mine died in a sidecar race, bad shit - those guys are loooped out and deserve more credit than they get.

Senior race is Friday kids - that is the biggy and the climax to the week, Mcguinness will be looking to take down Dunlop after being beat on Superbikes on Monday - he did set a new lap record though, again.....

I think there is 4 deaths per 1 kilometre of track.

OC, slipping bud...this shot is from the Macau GP, almost as crazy as the TT or Ulster GP.

happens every year, comes with the territory...which makes what the top guys do even more impressive. Guy Martin, Conor Cummins, Ian Hutchinson, Steve Plater, Michael Dunlop, John McGuinness, Gas Johnson, Stuart Easton...

where is my dude Josh Brookes at, havent got to watch any coverage so far.

ah, looks like the short circuit ace is getting on with the job. Wink

Guy Martin 2008 Northwest 200 lost the front and hit his ass on the curb at 120mph riding a Hydrex Honda.

who's that? Racing in the TT is kinda hard to get into. They usually make you run smaller stuff first

I've had a few friends run Macau GP. That race is nuts. I'd rather do the TT
