Troy Lee Designs / Lucas Oil / Honda is happy to announce a new corporate sponsor to the team: SILLYBRANDZ Global.

Troy Lee Designs and SillyBrandz Global, the company that created Sillybandz, have now entered into an agreement that has Silly Brandz Global as a corporate sponsor.

"The opportunity to get involved with Robert and the staff at Silly Brandz Global is amazing. We're already working on the creative options for the TLD SillyBandz pack as well as future opportunities with more of the SillyBrandz products such as the SillySlapzWatch and RadBandz," said Troy Lee Designs' Director of marketing, Shawn Norfolk. "Silly Brandz has one of the hottest products in the mainstream market right now. Adding them as an integral part of our racing efforts brings a whole new dynamic to the team for sure."

Robert Croak, President of Silly Brandz Global had this to say; "This partnership is going to be amazing". My life has come full circle. I started out racing motocross and have continued to be an avid rider. Now, to team up with TLD/Lucas Oil/Honda is a dream come true. With over 1 million fans on Facebook all of us at Sillybrandz are excited to promote the new branded products and the upcoming season with the Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda team".

YORK, Pa. (AdAge.com) -- Who could have imagined that animal-shaped rubber bands would set off a trend the likes of which hasn't been seen since Webkinz? BCP Imports CEO and owner of the Silly Bandz brand, Robert Croak, did.

He jumped into the market in late 2008, ahead of rivals such as Crazy Bands and Zanybandz, and got an enviable head start. SillyBandz now does more than $100 million in annual sales and sells more than 1 million packs (with a retail price of $5.95) every week.

IDK, I have to admit it doesn't seem that far fetched to me. Have you been to a hospital recently? Seems every kid with a check up gets a silly band or what ever you call them. I knew they were big in the US but I was very surprised on a recent trip to Italy and seen them in several places. They are everywhere it seems. If the guy likes motocross, why not? Them things will be in stadiums and tracks in gobs this coming year. Riders signing autographs and giving away a silly band. Sounds like a great sponsor to me.

It's the truth.

Cole Seeley got it for them. Well, his agent did. He pulls in some coin just signing autographs for little kids at Silly Bandz PR campaigns. Finally someone thinking outside the box.

It doesn't matter what they sell, money talks. Back in the day a dirt track racer was sponsored by a massage parlor.

Hey, cool, I've never seen cheap plastic bracelets before!! Maybe someone will make some cheap plastic shoes to go along with those nifty little wrist-bands. They could make them look like clogs. I'm pretty sure I'm on to something here......... All the fat ho's and dickless dudes at Wal Mart will love 'em! Hit me up, Silly Brandz, and let's chat about my idea.....

Let's not forget people that the motocross industry is NOT full of MMA Bro's and have to have hard core tats... it's starts with the kids. Bringing on a sponsor that appeals to the younger crowd and is a safe product should be applauded. Move along posers and get some more tattoos so we can all be afraid of you when you walk by us at the races or at the mall...

I'm not tatted, don't wear a flat-bill, and am not a resident of the Inland Empire. As I said, I smell an IPO cooking....... Nothing more, nothing less. That's how 'trends' work. Find a public shell, invest in branding, build it up, and sell your "founder" shares on the upswing. That ain't hating, that's just good business. I couldn't find a public listing for SillyBrandz, but that doesn't mean they don't have a shell in waiting. Or not..... Hell, I dunno, but I've seen this dozens of times in other venues.

But, if I am right, did Troy get any warrants or shares? I know, it ain't any of my business. But, if SillBandz is the national trend that is being claimed---then the shares may be worth x's more than sponsorship dollars, going forward. So, a savvy businessman could take shares in lieu of sponsorship dollars. If the company hits---then the shares will be worth considerably more than upfront sponsorship dollars. And, trust me, Troy is smart enough and experienced enough to see the value in 'the come." It's a move one can only make after banking some dough,, and Troy has banked dough.

Some of you guys have a lot to learn about how sustainable generational wealth is created. It isn't nearly as black-and-white as what you see and read. And, it rarely comes through a salary or pension.......

I'm going to go get 9 quick holes in before the rain.

Do you over think every sponsorship this much?

There's nothing wrong with a sponsor that can provide not just funds, but exposure to a lot of different people who might not be familiar with the sport already. That sounds like a win-win to me.

Besides, I'm waiting for the new TLD pack.

And yes, this is better than Viagra, Underalls, Cottonelle, and a bunch of previous NASCAR sponsors that I can think of. Smile
