All arrowed up for my right wrist carpal tunnel surgery today, done under local anesthetic.
There was a 90 min delay before going into theatre, felt like it was wearing off when they started cutting tendon sheath. Thankfully they wacked some more anesthetic in there!
Good job I'm left handed, due to get that wrist done ovet Christmas period.

Best of luck Rob. It's no fun I'm sure but you'll be better off in the long run I'm sure. Keep us posted on the recovery.

haha, when they took me in for elbow surgery I told them I could still feel my arm, no they said, it was just the sensation. doc starts talking to me and I tell him same thing, same reply from him, just sensation. then I tell him when he cuts me, last thing I remember is him yelling to anesthetist "knock him out". mine went well, wishing you the same.

I've had 3 surgerys over the years and wouldn't want a 4th. Best of luck with your recovery!

Had both done (carpal) a few years ago 3 weeks apart. They knocked me out on both (propofol).
Good luck, It's a game changing surgery for moto and life in general... I wish I would of had it done 20 years earlier.

Yea had my carpel tunnels done a few years ago, now can ride for hours w/o numbing or arm pump. It does however
take a full year to get full strength back

is this from drawing? Damn dude heal up. We need your art!
Not sure what caused it? Perhaps year's of moto followed by 20 years of downhill mountain biking.
Putting pressure on wrists whilst drawing painting and driving can't have helped but whilst sore from surgery immediate relief of deadness pins & needles in fingers and hand. Best nights sleep for ages last night, no waking at 2am shaking dead hand!

I had open fracture of left radius and ulna with 2 plates and sixteen screws and a bone graft with no opiates. Had my previous issues with painkillers.
Hang in there man, it will heal up quick.

Has anyone had surgery at laser spine center? I have fracture in t7, t8 with bulging disc and advanced degenerative disease at 42yo. They tell me they can fix it with a 18mm incision.??

Surgery's do suck. I have always been impressed with your art. Hope all goes well for you and a quick recovery. I have had a lot of surgery's, here is a pic of the last one I had about a year ago, it was just a flesh wound.

Holy crap!! I'm sitting here bumming because I can't ride for six months while I recover from rotator cuff surgery, and hearing some of your stories and seeing the pics is making me feel at least a little better. Still, without riding on the weekend this whole routine we go through seems to have little point.....

My femoral artery had 12" of blockage above my knee, it is called Peripheral Vascular disease. I destroyed my knee racing, had reconstruction surgery on it and had some post op problems, then I destroyed it again. My knee is so bad, doctors will not even do a replacement, then this happens. It's like getting the worse arm pump and cramps you can imagine in your lower leg after walking 100 yards or so, then you have to rest for the pain to slowly quit. They did a bypass surgery, it failed within 2 weeks, all of that cutting for nothing. Pain with no gain sucks, but shit happens, its just a flesh wound. Cleaned my air filter last night, adjusted my chain, lubed cables and changed my oil. wfo4ever

There was a 90 min delay before going into theatre, felt like it was wearing off when they started cutting tendon sheath. Thankfully they wacked some more anesthetic in there!
Good job I'm left handed, due to get that wrist done ovet Christmas period.

Been there and done that. It's been a year and a half since surgery. Don't think mine was much of an improvement. It could be worst, at least I can still ride. Hang in there Rob, oh by the way, I'm still diggin on the Marty Moates art that I got from you a few years backWink

Gharmon, I shattered my left wrist right where you broke yours years ago, but when I hit the ground I knew it was broken so I grabbed my wrist with my other hand and wouldn't let go of it. The Dr said that was the only thing that saved me from having surgery, because all of the pieces (8 or more) were still right in place because I never moved it.

Man, I knew my wrist was hurting but I did a few movements while on the ground but honestly the broken ribs must have taken all my pain sensory info and deflected it away from the wrist. It took awhile for me to get catch my breath. I got up , eventually, cranked my bike then noticed all the oil on the ground (the other person's foot peg tore holes in my crankcase on my rm 250) so I hitched a ride back to the pits on the mule. It wasn't until the ride back that I noticed my wrist was swelling quickly. So instead of hold my wrist I was holding my ribs.

But never did my wrist hurt, I guess due to the broken ribs being of much more concern (at the time). But now I'm 1 week from being released to do whatever and my wrist just isn't ready. Grip strength is half my left hand (i'm right handed) so I started really working to strengthen it up so I could ride again. Now, I've apparently developed tendonitis in my wrist and have been told to do no strengthen for at least another week. I rode my sons bike around the track last week and it isn't anywhere near strong enough to be holding on under full power. Plus it hurt while riding!!
