Here are some of my gripes about this whole deal...One: The green sticker fund they had there was in a SURPLUS for years, where did those funds go? All these people that are assessed fees to go to Glamis (One-Time) and Seasonal Passes, where are those funds going? All these businesses that set up on Vendor's row, I'm sure they're paying fees to the state of CA, where is that money going? First off, they need to REDUCE the fees in order to attract more people, two; they need to improve things out there (campgrounds, toilets, etc...). When I grew up out there, they didn't ask for stinking Season Passes, all you needed was your green sticker and you were good to go. Also, between the dipshit feds and the morons running the state of CA, they need to pull their heads out of their asses and OPEN UP THE NORTH SIDE OF GLAMIS AGAIN!!!! Open up the closed areas on the South Side. Give them more space to run around in, that way you can take out one of the contributing factors that do cause some of the accidents out there. I grew up in the Imperial Valley, I miss it and I miss riding out there in the Valley, but California is a sinking ship. For all the days I miss it out there, I read shit like this and it makes me glad I'm in Oklahoma now...damn shame, Cali used to be a great place to be, especially in SoCal. Everything you wanted, you could get to in four hours. Dunes, Desert, Mountains, the Ocean, Colorado River, etc...you could stay busy year round out there.

this is their break down. let me get this straight. i pay $52 for 2 years. there are 1.2 million visitors a year. the budget is 1.3 million and they spent 1.7 million

lets assume out of the 1.2 million people there per year, 25% actually ride/drive registered off road vehicles out there. that leaves 300,000 people who paid money towards the offroad fund with registrations. 300,000 users x $52 = $7.8 million...so where the fuck is the other $6.6 million???

The money went to pay for the teachers retirement. I got out of that state 6 years ago. WE got more trails here than you can ride

I don't understand why you guys take it.

I mean, can't a few thousand of you Kalifornia guys get together and make a scene at the State Capitol or something?

Where is Dingman and the AMA on this shit?

Millions upon millions, stolen and they still treat you guys like 2nd class citizens.

You guys in Cali need to step up, show some resistance, you and your state kinda lead what happens all over.
You have inherited a responsibility, or let things get out of hand, however you want to look at it.

Is the weed that good out there?

I needed to clarify the numbers, its 7.8 million per year (300,000 x $52 = 15.6 million...)

The worst part is that assumes ONE bike/vehicle, between me and a friend we have 4 bikes that we pay for and I know I'm not the only one with multiple bikes. So the money figure I posted is bottom of the barrel. It's likely much much higher.

It's fucking thievery and then they have the nerve to take that money, spend it on things it wasn't intended for and then start charging us for the same fucking thing. Essentially we're being taxed twice, but then again that's nothing new...

When I retired from the service; I made the decision not to go back. It's a crap deal; but lets face it, that place is a sinking ship. Organizations and individuals have tried to fight them but between the low information voters and the Hollyweird Liberals, it's an uphill battle. Like I heard GG Allin mention once, you don't get what you want, you get what you deserve...and to me, that statement fits a lot of the folks living in CA. There are still quite a few folks there that are fighting the good fight, but IMO, that place is a lost cause.

Reading this makes me very glad I got my property in Washington. This state is an absolute shit hole and the poster child of what not to do. All the government here does is steal from you and waste the money on nothing. The beach and weather are the only positive things about this place anymore. I guess Anaheim supercross too.

There is a flaw in your math. The visitors per year figure might include repeat visitors, right? Not every user will only go once per $52 dollars.

And if you think California is bad, try NJ. We don't have jack shit to ride on from the State. Nada.

What happens in Cali eventually happens everywhere else.
Stamp It.

Yes there is corruption run rampant our here. But I live here cause

1). I have property with an MX track, Shooting range, Pool, Horses, I can ride & wheel right off my front door for days.
2). I can drive 90 minutes to 6 or 7 groomed tracks.
3). I can go to 6 Supercrosses within a few hours drive.
4). I can snowboard, fish, hunt, lay on the beach, shop till my wife drops, jet ski, gamble, Glamis, Ocotillo, Johnson Valley, Dumont, Hammers, River, all within a few hours.
5). I can eat at IN-N-OUT.
6). There are so many people you can open up a biz selling monkey dung and someone will buy.

Cali is NOT THAT BAD once you live here. For those who live elsewhere it does help you not to think about all your humidity, bugs, tornados, frozen tundras, when you hear about our dirty laundry.

That list is accurate and what makes it hard to leave, especially the amount of tracks and In-n-out Laughing Living in Orange County, anything I want to do is a short drive away. I'm also a beach bum and it would be hard to live somewhere that is land locked.

However, there is also:

1) Lots of traffic
2) Very expensive living
3) Gas prices
4) This won't apply to some, but the gun restrictions here are ridiculous
5) Taxes
6) Schooling here is atrocious now
7) Very corrupt government
8) The tremendous amount of rules and regulations

People are fleeing this state because of the above.

there's a ton of variables.

1) we dont know how many people actually go out there. are they taking a census in the desert? they are simply guessing
2) we dont know how many people are actually riding/driving off road vehicles there, which is why i used 25% as my figure
3) we dont know how many of those people own multiple bikes/trucks/quads etc. so the bikes that dont even make it out there, are sitting at home, registered at $52 a pop

and so on. even with all these variables, the money could swing up or down like you said, but im sure there WAS plenty of money at one point. its a simple cash grab IMO.

I agree Cali is a mess however I have been all over this amazing country in 46 of the 50 states to travel and stuff, and by far the best place on EARTH is where I live now. Newport Beach. HEAVEN.

At least OC is a bit more conservative than the rest of the God Forsaken State. People often times try and lump OC in with the rest of Cali. Heck, LA, SF and OC may as well be 3 separate countries as far as im concerned.

I can walk to the surf, im 1-2 hours away from crazy good Moto tracks, and if you dont need to leave the OC I NEVER sit in traffic as long as you know how to navigate it and at what times. As far as taxes are concerned yes they are bad but there is also a TON of biz here. So its a wash in many ways. Just have to find a biz that caters to the rich.

Shame about Glamis fees but I have gone now 3 times this last winter and made it In-N-Out (haha yes best place ever!!) without buying a permit one time...just gotta know how to do it....

Definitely sucks, but as someone else mentioned we have it WAY worse here in the mid atlantic/northeast. Outrageous taxes, rabid anti-OHV liberals at all level of government, and ZERO places to ride on land that your tax dollars are paying for. (And very, very limited private riding areas to boot)
