Yep. It was foul. Joe Theisman style.

Now I know why you see the guys jump off their bikes if they have the time.
Even with a neck brace he was able to tuck his head out of the way. Wink

I was telling my wife that every year watching the Super Minis a Vital discussion will occur saying it is wrong to put those kids on that track. I think this thread may be the start of that discussion :D That really sucks for that poor kid... Hopefully it was a clean break. Welcome to the broken femur club.

That sucks.
Naran is a good kid, super fast at the Vurb Classic in Georgia and other races this year.
Broke some ribs and a wrist too I believe.

Hope he heals quick.

When I found out about it....I rewound it and watched.....I really wish I hadn't. Never sets well in my stomach seeing things like that. Especially to a kid.

Right before that happened I was saying I am not a huge fan of kids on a track like. The track just seems too fast and intense. The landings are so sharp and unforgiving.
(Stay tunes for cries of "pussy!Smile . Pretty much any questioning of the "Wild West" attitude toward minicycle racing gets the same treatment.

I hate to say I ever agree with MXA but they said after the first year of Monster Cup... we will end up seeing a super mini kid die on live TV.

These kids are absolutely incredible and are way faster than 99% of the world but a super cross track is not built for a mini bike. AND if a mini bike can do all the obstacles maybe we need to rethink the design...

Rant over.

Heal up quick!!!

Why? Good God.
No shit. I saw it happen live and knew instantly his femur or pelvis was snapped. Not sure why you'd want to watch it. I wouldn't again.

That was so hard to watch. Really hope he's OK and can come back from that. It does seem a little crazy to put those kids on that track.

Heal up quick dude!

When I saw him crash and leg bend that way I got such a bad feeling in my stomach. I do not know the kid but seeing a youngin get seriously injured is one of the things that make me cringe. Growing up racing all the am nationals I always thought the 80cc race at U.S. Open was cool but it was the same deal. There were quite a few injuries from some big named kids back then as well.
I know that regardless of my opinion the event is still going to happen, but now a days I honestly think it isn't a good idea at all to have these 13 year old kids racing full blown sx tracks. People may call me a puss or whatever (Maybe Im just starting to get a little older and losing my edge) but the power these superminis produce now a days is outrageous.
These kids are racers and are going to the event to win, so of course they are going to try the obstacles on the track, they don't know any better. They still are in the stage of thinking they are invincible and have superman capabilities.

Don't get me wrong, 90% of the riders come out safe and its a great experience but it seems that their is always an injury involved. These kids are fearless and jumping such huge, steep jumps in front of thousands of fans for the first time in their life, in the midst of a heated battle can spell disaster.

Im not opposed to the top kids dabbling in some sx type events or tracks but it seems monster cup is geared towards 450s. Everything looks like its on steroids and not very forgiving to a small bike. They need a more amateur layout in my opinion.

Yeah it makes a lot of sense that 250 guys now have to go to arena cross before racing SX but we'll just throw these lil guys in there with the rest of em. Especially on a track that when designed they were given clear instructions to make it so hard that nobody was winning a million!

That is one thing I do agree with. Build the track for the 450s, and if the 250s (or less in this case) can't do it, so be it. Shorter runs for the big jumps would be great. It would allow the track designers to build more obstacles too, increasing the lap times so we won't have tracks that are way too short.

Gone are the days where Carmichael was the only 125 rider tripling, or Stewart was the only 125 rider hitting the rhythm section. Some of that has to do with the four stroke, but I think track design is the majority of it.
