Yo! On saturday its time for the second edition of the 24MX Supercross in Stockholm. The last event was back in 2014 and Jason Anderson won on his 450 Husky Debut, with Mike Alessi and Josh Hill rounding out the podium.
This year it looks like weather is holding up, which should make for a much better track. Even though the stadium is indoors, the dirt got soaked during transportation to the stadium in 2014 which made for a soggy mess for the track builders to try and create a track out of. So far so good, dirt is coming in and the sun has been shining.
Heres the animated track map. Riders list according to the website below:
Riders SX Pro:
Fredrik Noren (SWE)
Dustin Pipes (USA)
Ronnie Stewart (USA)
Gannon Audette (USA)
Martin Davalos (USA/Ecuador)
Josh Hill (USA)
Rasmus Sjöberg (SWE)
Vicky Golden (USA)
Jack Brunell (UK)
Davi Millsaps (USA) (out)
Ricky Renner (USA)
Adam Enticknap (USA)
Angelo Pellegrini (ITA)
Thomas Ramette (FRA)
Benny Bloss (USA)
Florent Richier (FRA)
Priit Rätsep (EST)
Niclas Hallafors (SWE)
Fabien Izoird (FRA)
Mathew Bayliss (UK)
Mathias Jorgensen (DEN)
Fredrik Gol (DEN)
Albin Larsen (SWE)
Unfortunatly the 2014 winner Jason Anderson had to step out of the event after being selected by Husqvarna to ride the SMX cup (which is held the same day...) , however, with his recent injury from MXON, we all just wish him the best and a speedy recovery.
Apart from the Pro SX Class theres also a 125cc national SX championship class, should be pretty killer seing a full gate of 125's racing a SX track again. The Pro SX will race a format similar to the monster cup, all riders in every race. 3 ten lappers, followed by an 18 lap "main" double point race. Combined scores from all four races determines the winner.
Good luck to everyone racing at the Tele2 Arena on Saturday!
The official website is www.supercross.se , no word on a live stream but should be plenty of photos and race reports.
PS, pretty sweet to see a one off comeback from Josh Hill! Should be rad!

But in 2014 there was around 40 riders and the new race structure limits it to the 22 (ish) rider gate i guess? Hopefully it will make for closer racing atleast
The Shop
Agree with it being a better arena though
Last time was a fiasko, hope this is handled better
Seeing as how he's racing the RBSR on an electric bike, I wonder if he'll try (or even be allowed, I guess) to race the Alta here...

Hill, Ramette, Noren, Bloss, Pellegrini top 5 after free practice.
Alex Ray filling in Davalos.
1. Fredrik Noren
2. Thomas Ramette
3. Angelo Pellegrini
4. Josh Hill
5. Benny Bloss
6. Florent Richier
7. Jack Brunell
8. Dustin Pipes
9. Adam Enticknap
10. Fabien Izoird
11. Alex Ray
12. Mathew Bayliss
...
If you count those points together Thomas Ramette was doing best there, then Hill, Pellegrini, Bloss and Noren.
It looks like it took 2 races for Fast Freddy get used to SX, but then he won last 2.
For sure there is plenty of good European riders too mixing with those 10 USA riders
Won the first of 4 mains. Set fastest time of the day. And was top American
So overall might be different than those SX Pro Final results I posted earlier. And not even sure if they were correct, since in those Josh Hill was 4th and later he wrote that he was 5th in last race.
Haven't seen official results anywhere yet, so when someone know, please post here!
EDIT:
If last race results were correct on race-monitor.com result site and points counted MXoN style (one point for position) overall results should be in top10
Ramette, Noren, Hill, Pellegrini, Bloss, Brunell, Izoird, Enticknap, Pipes, Richier.
EDIT2:
I guess Hill got dropped to 4th because of last race result even though having a heat win and same points with Pelegrini
4 Total races (or mains or whatever you want to call them, all riders in all races, collecting points for an overall score)
3 races at 10 laps each
1 race at 18 laps with Double Points
Hill looked incredible in practice, and in the first race. Easily the fastest rider of the event. However he started fading in race 2 and by the 4th race (which was double points) he was understandably pretty tired. The guy was sitting at his desk 2 days ago..so no dig on him.
The 125cc and 65cc classes both ran 2 races each, points counting towards an overall score.
Oh yeah, Noren put on one hell of a show. He struggled a bit here and there in practice but didnt give up. He crashed in the same spot in the first two races, while running inside the top 5. In the last two races he came out swingin, winning both. The crowd went absolutley crazy, especially during the last few laps of the final race, and he came within a few points of winning the overall..
Bummer that some bigger names ended up geting hurt, but, having said that - the racing was much better than a usual Euro race. Lap times were close, racing was tight, and there were some real great battles out there.
