KTM guys were still running 125s that year too but they were no where near the speed of Stewart. The difference there is that KTM had yet to make a 250F...Stew CHOSE to ride the two-stroke!
"I guess he thought I was a berm?"
Herlings was about TEN when that race took place, what would Stewart have watched Herlings do, suck his thumb
Everyone wanted to see closer competition and thats what your seeing. There isnt much anymore in MX and def not SX that separates the field anymore, They smooth the tracks out and make easier rhythm sections to make it "safer" which also makes it easier to where people have to ride way over the edge to have more speed than someone else instead of having to hit a technical section perfect every time to get away from guys who makes mistakes in said section every other lap. Which to me makes it more dangerous... Guys having to ride way over your head to get a half a second per lap on the field because everyone is doing the same rhythms and taking all the turns the same is dangerous. Now ppl are washing the front end in SX way more often... why is that? because they are pushing it harder in the turn to get that extra 1/10 of second that the next guy isnt willing to do... JMHO But oh well... But
That vid reminds me of RV now a days.... But not quite the same... Just something about hearing that 2 stroke pinned 100% of the time hes on the throttle... Damn thats music to the ears.
One of my friends brought up a good point....think how many races there has been there since day one. Nationals + local races then times it by every rider that leaves the track covered in dirt. Every single time dirt is being removed and it may not seem like a lot, but it is the answer to where the sand went. Plus the bikes crushing it into a fine powder then blowing away.
Doesn't matter now anyways I guess

But just to clarify, if I recall correctly he did not choose to ride a 125? Kawasaki did not make one that year.
The one and only time he raced a 250F Kawasaki was Glen Helen 2005, which he smoked everyone (shocking). They had brought out that model year 250F early or something so it was the first time he could race it? I was there so I know that part is correct, but not sure why he only raced it the one time. But I thought it was because it was his first opportunity?
Was it because the title was already wrapped up, so if the POS 4 stroke broke it would not matter....?
Just joking on that part, but if he chose to ride a 125 when Kawasaki offered a 250F, I am surprised they let him ride the old scooter. But now that I think about it, was that the year PC had Matt Walker ride a 125 and the rest of the team was on 250F's? I recall feeling sorry for him at the Phx supercross, he was trying his ass off but the 250f's were just too much more HP.

Not sure how much JS7 could learn from baby sea trout?
It's one thing for the fans to start grumbling because for the most part we don't matter, but what happens when "the industry folk" start grumbling?
