I can't believe Husky/ktm won't help him. People went nuts over the 2 stroke in 20thish place.
And the videos were good. I think this guy could help sell more bikes and cover his salary and racing costs. But maybe not since they don't really need help selling all the 2 strokes...

Arenacross and been injured.

No idea why Husky does let him pit under their tent on a 125. It would be a genius move by Husky. Dont even have to give him a bike and mechanic. Let him pit under the tent, give him and his mechanic some help and a place to relax and do PR.

This.

I enjoyed him in the beginning of last season with all the 2-stankin hype, then his Snapchat kinda, "escalated"Whistling

My 5cents is on this why he isn't getting a decent ride, cause he can ride a bike for sure, and I dig the style he has!

On the other hand, not all of them want a ride and be proper. Smile

Gonna be fun seeing him again tough, and I hope they make some sort of videos again.

He's a throw back to what the roots of our sport was. Face it our sport is never going to fit well with the business suits, country club set. I for one don't want it to. They'll just be in for a quick buck then off they'll go.
Our core is the blue collar Ace hardware, Home Depot set and that's who Gared is. With a little hippie thrown in and I'm cool with that. So please please please stop trying to sell us out to the corporations people... remember we ride dirt bikes.

Lastly I do hope he shows up and can put it in the show, however, Millville... that hill is a 125 killer. Blush

I think he broke his collarbone or wrist or something. He had some kind of injury in the spring.

Looking at the parts microfiche for 2017 Husky/KTM 125s they have a new part number for several gears 2,3,4,5..."this is most current part for this model" all the revised gears end in '44'. In a add for the 2018 bikes I see they also noted improved 2,3,4,5 gears. The tranny failures hurt him a few times....hopefully this is solved and he can make the top 20 and earn some points on the 125 !!
They are missing out on sales if they don't capitalize on his popularity with the 2 stroke crowd.

So he is essentially helping them out by putting the bike through just about everything it could take and they can't support him any? He is essentially testing for them just not under their tent. Wish he could get some support.

Around 2,000 new 125's are sold annually. That's why they aren't helping. I'm all for stank but then numbers don't add up.

Where do you get those numbers? I'd be interested in seeing the numbers for all the other bikes as well. Got a link or something to the info?

I remember when YZ426Fs didn't sell much,,,then a couple riders did well on them and they caught on..125s need a little help like that !!!!!!

I myself bought a new 2017 TC250 last year(first new bike in my life) after seeing Stenke at Mt Morris. The sound of him screaming and looking like he was having a blast, talking with him between motos, led me into dealers shopping in following weeks. There wasn't a KTM150 available at the time, but Husky dealer had a TC250-so got it. Now I'm wanting a 125/150 this year too.
There's a niche there....they need to fully tap into it. Some adds,,,a couple big name or colorful riders,,,a bonus program for riders on a 125s that do well vs 250Fs.

When I was at Suzuki recently, I heard a number thrown around that the last year they sold 125s in the US, they moved barely over 100 units.

And the 2000 new units in the US across all brands currently sounds fairly accurate from what I've heard. The last time i asked, which was two years ago, Yamaha was somewhere between 500-700 for 125s. I'm going off a super rough estimate here, but I believe 450 mx sales across the six major brands in the US are over somewhere around 20-25,000 units.

Interesting number I heard recently, one brand has to sell 10,000 units to make up for the production and R&D costs of that bike. And that doesn't include the R&D costs and changed production as the bike changes each year. So if the bike doesn't make 10,000 unit sales in its first year and they make changes for year two, the amount of bikes needed to make money on the project goes up.

Sounds like there needs to be a bunch of 450's going out the door for '17 & '18 with all the new models.
