I had one of these bikes back in 1988. I bought it brand new off the showroom floor after saving for over a year, making payments to the dealership and selling my '83 KDX80. I raced the bike at Hurricane Hills in Clifford, PA and eventually sold it to pay for work on my car when I turned 16. I have always regretted selling that bike. I was fortunate enough to find this one recently...and I scooped it up after some negotiation. I cannot believe the shape that it is in...right down to the original Dunlop tires. It needs a little bit of work...but very minor stuff. I have not been this pumped about a dirt bike in a LONG time. Thought I would share my "barn find"...or should I say "climate-controlled garage find". 1988 KX80 Big Wheel

Sweet find!

I use to race my 80 in the mini class and my big wheel in the 125 class...

It was fun watching you guys rip around on those 80's. Attached is my '88, but it was the big and fat version! Smile

One thing I noticed (and forgot) is those blue side plates on your 80. I think all the European versions had that, but only the 80's came stateside with it.

They offered the 100cc (or maybe 105cc) kit for them back in the day. Always wanted to try one out... Sounds like a blast!

I used to race an 88' and 89' small wheel kx 80. Now all you need is the pink or (my preference) Orange plastic from Maier!

Very good looking bikes. That big wheel version looks "sleek" for lack of a better description. Congrats on the killer find. Now, someone go over to the old school section and buy that "Like New" 1985 KX125 before I do something stupid...

Thanks for the interest...but this bike is not for sale. It has found its home in the man cave...

Gorgeous little bike that really opened up a whole age group for highly-competitive racing that we now consider maybe the most important amateur class.
