"Spider Cam" is cool but.....

The Spider Cam is cool but they need to go back to using a tighter shot of the first turn. Even the announcers can't tell who is in top ten for about half a lap.

What kind of camera does the Goodyear Blimp have? I thought we were watching from the spider cam, then Ralph says "Here's a shot of the starting line from the Goodyear Blimp, 3000ft above the stadium...." 3000ft?! Looked like the camera was about 100ft above the gate.

"and here's the spider cam brought to you by suzuki"... "and now it's brought to you by ktm". That spider cam is such a whore. I like it.

I think it adds a unique perspective but I have to agree it's tough to call who is who when they are all grouped together

Goodyear uses a Cineflex HD camera on their airships. Most flights are 1000-1500' in altitude. http://www.cineflex.com/

That sounds more like what I was thinking as far as elevation. Maybe Ralph misspoke or I misheard, but I swear he said 3000ft. I think it was before one of the semis or an LCQ.

I totally agree. I'm watching on a 55 inch tv with hd and whenever they go to that cam there is no way to tell who anyone is and it drives me crazy.

You're right It's tough no doubt but with the way qualifying is the top dogs are usually all bunched together so I just focus on that group, specifically Roczen actually, from the 30 second board all the way to gate drop. A1 and A2 i just focused in on him the whole time and he was leading both times

The "spider cam" essentially gives you the same view that you would have from sitting in the nosebleed seats... There is a reason i dont buy tickets in the top row of the stadium, you cant even tell who is who from up there...

I think its a cool shot to show the stadium when no racing is going on, but should not be used after the gate drops...
