With all the given safety talk over the past few days it sounds like more people should support Honda. Since 09 they have made a decision to mellow out the power of the 450 and make it more rider friendly. In return for doing this magazines like motocross action just slam them for making a mellow 450. Just my thought as after listening to the pulpmx show the consumer can show the companies what they want to buy, it doesn't have to start from the top of the sport to make a difference.

I agree, but those stupid air forks turn me off.
Mo too, but I've always liked Honda's. I still think they can be made as fast as the others, but you'd have to sink some money into them. Every Honda I've ever had (a few) have been very reliable and some of the easiest bikes to kick start.

The reason why I went back to KTM, only to get the first Generation 4cs forks that blow balls. 16 KTM 450 or Yamaha 450 may be my next choice, unless I can find a brand new 2012 CRF450 somewhere lol

X2....Those were gorgeous bikes. If I were in the market for a used 450 that would be the one.

Haven't tried em on a dirt bike, but I was not a fan of the fox float forks that were on my deity. Sick

not riding over your head is the other option
That is the idea isn't it. The Honda's in stock form are probably plenty fast for many of us. Controlling what you have is the key.

It's funny on Honda demo day at Briarcliff I rode one and still thought to myself how retarded power roosting that savage was. No need for it. Me anyway. Maybe Stewart needs it and tomac. But not me.

Rode my buddies 13'. I'm not even very sensitive to bad suspension but those forks were horrible!

Yep. Just read an article in DB mag, they tested a 480 kit. Said there was no place in the powerband to escape.

My bike is equipped with these amazing things called gearbox and throttle tube, it gives the riders the chance to decide how to ride it.

Pro Action did my suspension on my 15 crf and it was such an amazing improvement that I am ok with the air forks now but at first I was scrambling to buy some spring forks. They feel a lot more like the springers now.

Wouldn't riding a slower bike lead to you riding it harder, causing you to "ride over your head" where a faster bike you might respect more and therefore ride more in your limits? how about a ktm 350? or just ride any 250f. some holes in the logic here but since hondas are the best bikes ever made ever in the history of ever this makes complete sense.

Honda builds a mellow motor, and everyone who buys and races one immediately mods the shit out of it, so they can be faster than the guy beside them, and we're right back where we started. Humans can be accused of being a lot of things, but a smart species isn't one of them.

That's what I ended up doing. I found a low hour older gen bike and rebuilt it instead if buying a new one.

Find some KYB springs off of a 2009-2012 or some Showas from a 2010-2014 crf250. Changes that bike entirely!
Air forks do suck....agreed!

people can say what the want about safety, speed etc. but I feel way safer on my 450 than on a 250f and I got hurt way more on a 250f I havent had any serious injuries since I started riding 450s when I was 14. So to say that 450s are unsafe is stupid it all depends on the rider. Too many variables to make a decision like banning 450s

I am the exact same , I really gell with the 450 . and don't fall off half as much as I did on smaller cc bike s. put the bike in really high gears be really smooth , and you fly on them with way less effort imo . to many people rev the crap out of them

the same manufacture that made its massive 4 stroke push into the off road competition.

I went to a race meeting the other day and I reckon there was about 60% Hondas there. Make of that what you will.

Most people don't ride AMA Supercross though. I think that is what they are mostly talking about IMO. Huh

Honda always had more 4 strokes while still producing its 2 stroke range (remember the XR's that were raced competively off road?), it was NOT Honda who pushed the high performance 4 strokes into the MX/SX arena, it was Yamaha....facts are a lot more helpful than anti-Honda sentiments.

The fact that this suited Honda more is a moot point, the point is it wasnt them who started the push into the 4 strokes that we have now.

Well....I have always thought it was more fun to ride a slower bike fast.....then ride slow on a fast bike.

And as far as that goes about the Honda's....I haven't liked any of the newer Honda's since the 2012. Loved the 12'.....did NOT like the 13' or newer. Couldn't stand the 09' or 10' either haha. 11' was pretty good though.

I'm thinking I'll get 10 years out of mine, especially if I ride my two strokes as much as I have been. When its time to race though, my 08 is my first choice, everything just works so well on that machine.
