Milestone on the weekends when you have hundreds of spodes out there. It's like the 405 during traffic hour while the majority of people don't know what they're doing. It's scary as shit. I'll only ride there on weekdays now that Pala is closed :/

Starwest hasn't been called Star-Death since the 90's for nothing.

Before that. 82-90. It was supercross when Keith Craig was winning races. One kid on a 87 YZ 125 jumped the 2 tables near the finish line. 140 feet.
Donna Craig and someone else took down the finish line banners between the 2 because they were told someones going to double this during the Open class (open money and open CC at that time)
They made it unjumpable after that by spreading them out.

The fast kids from that era could jump anything.
With Palm Avenue and all the ride spots with huge gaps and cliffs...even the 60 kids were going huge.
way before their time.
Lots then had more skills than pure speed, but all were super good riders.

Back when Andy Harrington was on a pee wee.

Starwest back in the Factory Phil Emig Club Rubber days.

Come race REM. People know what they're doing while focusing on having fun as safely as possible....and 20 minute motos.

Get there at 8 if you haven't been there before but after you're in the groove show up at 8:30 and be out of there before 3 after having raced two twenty minute motos.

I got started back racing in 88 and every time I talked to someone who had raced Barona Oaks they were either injured or had just recovered so I never went there to race. Didn't they call that place Broken Oaks?

It's not that bad now......it used to be way more technical and like a supercross track. Thursday nights there used to be nuts, it looked just like an sx race in the 90's. Every pro would be there, MC, Emig, Ryno......almost all of them. When you have a track that's already a little more "peaky" than most local tracks and then throw in all of the top pro's hauling ass around you, it would get a little crazy.

A track, any track is only a dangerous as a rider makes it.

Unless they run equipment while riders are out.

pala, just cause i've wrecked my self more there then anywhere else.

starwest might have had some peaky stuff, but it was always good dirt and pretty safe for what it was.

any time i went down at elsinore it sucked.

Times I've been there when the sun is going down heading west on the track you couldn't see or at least I couldn't, then they had a finish line table where another cat I know was just sitting there off the track watching and a rider came over and landed on him Fucked him up pretty bad and scared the shit out his kid...And it use to really jumpy...

Overshoot a turn at Piru and you can call it a wrap...

When did they start letting big bikes race there? Last time I was there was around '84 (maybe '85), and 125s were the biggest bikes on the track.

Its funny how differently people see things, I find Piru to be one of the safer tracks in that there no huge jumps and the speed it not nearly as high as some others. They have flag men around the track, its groomed nicely lately. What exactly isn't safe about it? I'll bet no one gets hurt at other tracks, right??? Sheeeezzzz, it makes me wonder how often some of the commenting people ever ride. Look, I'm 57 years old and I can bust every jump at Piru on the second lap, not so much at the other places, it takes me a while and my kid busting my balls until I hit everything at Milestone, Racetowm, Comp. Edge etc.

Hands down Piru.

I avoid that place like the plague

two times I've been there... injured both times

-separated ribs first time... peewee days

- Landed on a guys bike and separated my shoulder on the main track...blind double

I got 3 concussions from 97-03 on the old Shadow Glen track at LACR before they made the pit.

I'll have to try it out. I've been riding a lot less since Pala closed.

Historically I'd say A1 or 2. Also, SD needs an honorable mention.

Lol well everyone has their own experiences at different tracks... Some people Cant do elsinore.. I have a buddy that everytime he rides that places he ends up in the er.

So different folks different track issues lol..

Mine is piru, I bet some people eff themselves up at milestone and therefore thinks that's the most dangerous place.

It's honestly a highly subjective topic. But so far piru is the riskiest, in being reported more frequently I think.. I could be wrong though

I always thought Piru was the most dangerous. Narrow, one lined, hard clay ( snot on ice when watered, or over watered like they use to do).
The new owner has brought in a new mixture of dirt that they put on top. Its not loamy but its not like asphalt like before. They have two flaggers who double as watering dudes. I ride there every Wednesday and i still think it dangerous but like others said any track can be dangerous.

Ahhh, my hometown track. I love Barona. Been racing and riding there since the early early 80s. Most of my friends think the track is on Indian burial ground.

Barona has downhills, uphills, and rocks everywhere, but I still think Elsinore is more dangerous because of the awful grease dirt.

I really dig it myself. You just don't want to push it to hard there. Are some crazy drops off the side of the track.

I have not ridden there since they rebuilt it, but back in 05--06 I remember the main track being like a big supercross track. Make a mistake out there and you will be pile driving yourself into concrete.
