4-20+ years old you will get good racing/riding with twmx and the ultimate amateur series. REM doesn't do 50cc races and there are few 65 & 80's that race there. Now, top 80cc racers come out and ride REM with the regular novice/int and they are exciting.

Racing in Southern California for quite a long time. The TWMX is a class act series! Not taking anything away from REM/SRA, but $55 for three classes and a traveling series. Im certainly a big fan

The best place to go right now is the transworld series. If you are looking for something small to try and get him into it first look at AV motoplex in Lancaster. They have a series that starts this weekend. Much more mellow than transworld and the races are done really early. That would be a good place to start him off to get the feeling of things if it's not too far of a drive for you.

at that age, +1 for TWMX series. I used to race it all the time when it was called "VET X" and ex AMA-Pro Craig Davis and legendary Mark Barnett owned and ran it. They saw a need to let younger riders ride more then a "support class" so they changed the name to "X Racing" with more support for all ages. Then in about 12', TWMX bought it and pumped revenue into it and made it the most competitive and well run series around. I.e., I race 40+ Intermediate in REM, and Expert at SRA but probably need to race Novice in TWMX...

For VET racers, I still prefer Saturday's REM and SRA Grand Prix series at Glen Helen, but for everyone else, TWMX is great.

My $0.02

If you aren't racing and just looking for something for the small kids then ...
Check out MotoXKidz on facebook
Don't have to wait around all friggen day like at TWMX
Great group of people and tailored specifically for the young ones ! They might also have support classes for the big bikes.
